Acceptance of homosexuality is also greater among young evangelicals. One in three under 30 favors same-sex marriage, compared with one in 10 of their elders.

Either there is a problem with this poll's methodology, or there is a problem with evangelicalism, or both.

The problem is that it is being seen through MSNBC’s “rose-colored” glasses of how they wish it would be.

Probably both. Sigh!

a big problem with evangelicalism is that it is damned near impossible to define. Personally, I have no idea if I am an evangelical or not. I do know that all the right people dislike them. It’s almost enough to make me want to be one whether I fit the definition or not.

The problem is with those that call themselves believers or Evangelicals, a vast number attend church but have no relationship....this is particularly true in the southern states.

Probably a problem with both.

Many “evangelicals” really belong to the church of what is happening now.

It is somewhat cool to be pro life, but not cool to be anti gay.

Or there is a problem with biblical ignorance. Ignorance seems to be a big problem of the American people these days.

"One in three under 30 favors same-sex marriage . . . "

So two in three oppose it. In politics, that would be considered a landslide, but here it is spun as approval for gay marriage.

"....or there is a problem with evangelicalism, or both."

Jesus said it would be thus in the last days.
It is not just Evagelicals (who comprise many denominations) - look at Roman Catholisism, how many ultra-lib polititians tout their "faith" while they continue to sentence baby girls and baby boys to horrific deaths through abortion - sure, one can easily point to Ted Kennedy and John Kerry and say: "there is a problem with Catholisim...."
Satan will always do his best to infiltrate and corrupt - he is, after all, a liar and a thief.

I suspect the methodology, but there are problems in evangelicalism. I've watched Rick Warren these past few years go from a staunch conservative Christian to something a little more reminescent of activist based churches and seeker sensitive churches, and this is not a change for the better. In fact, I've never been comfortable with the entire mega church movement. It's a lot of style, but many lack substance.

I'm also a little disappointed with Page, the new leader of my own denomination. He may be a fine man, but I'm not looking for a kinder, gentler kind of teaching. I want someone unafraid to speak the truth. My old pastor at my church when I got saved was just such a man. Everyone in town hated him because he would tell it like it was without sugar coating it. We need more men like him.
