Secure The Border First (Joseph Farah Challenges Amnesty First Plan Proponents Alert)

The "comprehensive immigration reform plan" worked out secretly by the staff of the White House and Senate is a fraud meant to deceive the American people with an elaborate Ponzi scheme of proposals – none of which will secure the border or deal effectively with 15 million to 20 million illegal aliens who are already inside the country.

It's a daunting task even to know where to begin in dissecting this bill, which I have actually taken the trouble to read – something I doubt most members of the Senate have done, including those endorsing it.

The fundamental flaw with any such attempt is that it puts the cart before the horse.

The root problem is an open border between two countries with starkly different economies, languages, cultures and value systems. There are no other countries in the world that share a vast border that are more dissimilar than the U.S. and Mexico. Mexico has a history of corruption in government. Its laws are under siege by powerful and well-armed organized crime gangs. Because of its socialist system, it is a country rich in natural resources with a population kept in poverty. It does not respect basic property rights, making it difficult for ordinary, hard-working people to make a decent living.

Mexico actually encourages its poor to emigrate as a safety valve against rebellion.

There is only one thing America can do effectively to protect itself from being used by that system – secure its border, carefully monitoring all human traffic and goods that flow north.

This must be accomplished, of course, before America can deal with the symptom of the root problem, million of illegal aliens who have already taken up residence in the U.S.

Instead, those involved in the "compromise" legislation being debated in Washington seek to fool the American people into believing they will get border security only if they accept the pain of amnesty along with it.

Yet we know from previous experience that holding out a carrot of amnesty, even if it is cleverly camouflaged as "comprehensive immigration reform," only encourages new tidal waves of invasion of the U.S. by illegal aliens.

The legislation, we're told, will require those illegal aliens currently in the U.S. to make sacrifices to stay. We are told they will have to pay fines and report their status.

This will never happen. Most illegal aliens will simply choose not to do this. They have already learned how to live in America as an illegal alien. We make it easy for them to do so. Major cities look the other way. Many of them are already permitted to vote like citizens. They get free health care. Their children get free schooling. In some cases, their young adults get discounted college tuition. They get welfare and food stamps. If they want to return to their homeland, they do so freely and return freely. So, clearly, there is little reason for any of them to pay a fine and start "playing by the rules."

The bottom line is we will be left with untold millions of illegal aliens after the shamnesty goes into effect. And more will come, encouraged by the assurance of more of the same non-enforcement of immigration laws in the future.

The bill relies on illegal aliens doing what is in their best interest to register their presence in the U.S. But most will decide it is simply not in their best interest to do so. Who could blame them while America is offering so many goodies to people so desperate? Who could blame others for coming?

That's why Americans must say no to any more immigration schemes other than border security and enforcement of current laws.

And even when the Mexican border is secure years from now, it will be time to turn our attention to our other border with Canada. Because once that Mexican border becomes secure, more of our illegal immigration activity will shift north. No, it won't be Canadians moving en masse to the U.S. It will be other foreigners, including ordinary hard-working Mexicans, drug dealers, other criminals and potential terrorists, who are but a plane ride away to another U.S. neighbor sharing a largely unsecured border.

So, in my opinion, we are many, many years away from any discussion of "comprehensive immigration reform." First you have to deal with the root cause – open borders. That is a costly and time-consuming solution – but one that is critical and vital if we take national sovereignty and security seriously.

Joseph Farah challenges amnesty first plan proponents with the truth that unless Mexico's system is changed, their citizens will come here in search of a better life. And why would those who break the law now agree to "play by the rules." All things considered, its more advantageous to remain an illegal alien and be rewarded than become an American citizen and assume burdens that go along with it like paying taxes and doing jury duty. Amnesty will never induce them to want to give up the benefits they now enjoy. Not dealing with the root of our immigration problem down in Mexico is all but certain to inundate this country with yet more waves of illegal aliens. But you will never see the political - er bipartisan criminal class deal with the issue as it deserves to be addressed.

.........................................TO AMERICANS

PLEASE TELL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES NOT TO VOTE FOR THE AMNESTY BILL (CHRISTMAS) REALLY.
TO ALLOW ILLEGAL ALIENS TO MAKE A GARBAGE DUMP OF AMERICA.
WE HAVE PAID INTO SOCIAL SECURITY AND THEY, THE ILLEGAL ALIENS, WANT THAT MONEY TO SEND HOME OR TO KILL US.
THEY WILL BRING THEIR FAMILIES INTO THE STATES.
WHEN THE ILLEGAL ALIENS COME FROM THE MEXICAN BORDERS WHAT WILL STOP THE CANADIANS OR ANY OTHER FOREIGN COUNTRY FROM INVADING OUR SOIL?
WHERE ARE OUR REPRESENTATIVES AND THE PRESIDENTS MINDS?

What you don’t seem to get about comprehensive immigration, is that people much smarter then you and the general public, came together (in secret) and worked very hard & compromised to write & pass this Bill. And if Pres. Bush, la raza, Sen. Kennedy etc... Thinks there is no reason to secure the boarder before the amnesty, well than by gosh they must be right!!!

Farah is right. The problem is the porous border. That problem is caused by a political class that, for various reasons, wants a porous border.

Close the border first accomplishes two things: (1) It closes the border--duh; and (2) It would a down payment by the political class to restore their credibility. That is, no sane person actually believes the political class have the slightest intention of securing the border once the amnesty plan is in place, no matter what the amnesty bill promises.

So if the political class is really serious about a comprehensive bill, first it has to convince me that they will actually close the borders and are willing to put the infrastructure in place to accomplish that. Once we are there, I'm willing to look at other issues a lot differently. Until then, it's a mugs game for American citizens to bargain for security and give up amnesty. All we will get is amnesty.

That way, if, as I believe, the political class intends to have open borders no matter what, at least we don't have open borders AND amnesty.

The question is: Do we want to destroy our country so we can buy lettuce that costs $.25 per head less?
Apparently, our President and the US Chamber of Commerce and the Democrat Party say “yes”.
