That region is not notably fertile -- but, did those weeds in the middle ground (highlighted in pink in the "Ref" frame) grow in the time between the two "news" photos?

I think what you may be looking at is a ground ‘swell’ from the explosion.

I’m far from being on expert on munitions and their effect on said targets, it looks like the area you highlighted is actually dirt and debris above the weeds

The weeds are there in Pic 1, they're just obscured by the mottled background. The other foliage matches pretty well, too.

I picked a possible site for these photos from Google Maps, on the northwest edge of the Nusseirat refugee camp.

I went by the red roof, which seems to be unique in the area. They would be running to the west through that orchard across the road to the southeast of the red roof.

This is probably wrong, but it must be something like this, and it raises the question of what this strike was hitting, and where all these guys are coming from.

The Nusseirat camp itself is very dense with buildings.
