Four Israeli security guards were shot Saturday evening by two Palestinians in the Sheikh Saad neighborhood in east Jerusalem. According to Israeli press reports, the guards sustained moderate to serious injuries in the attack.

The two Palestinian attackers were shot and killed. Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, Fatah's military wing, claimed responsibility for the shooting attack.

Earlier, Palestinian police killed a senior activist in the northern West Bank town of Tubas and five others were injured in the ensuing shootout between police and gunmen, security officials said.

The clash started when police ambushed Raed Abdel Razik, the leader of Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades in town, as he emerged from his home. Adbel Razik, 26, was wanted by police for a series of criminal shootings in town and security officials said he opened fire at police while holding a hand grenade. Police said they fired back, hitting Abdel Razik and the grenade blew up in his hand.

According to the AP, he was taken to Jenin hospital and officials said he later died of his wounds.

Adbel Razik's family then fired at a police station and a heavy exchange of fire erupted.

I hope you realize that it's Palestinian police who were involved in the second incident, and that a Palestinian militant was killed.

The story is confusing because it talks about two entirely different incidents.
