Troops Fire Upon Protesters in Venezuela

CARACAS, Venezuela - National Guard troops fired tear gas and rubber bullets Monday into a crowd of protesters angry over a decision by President Hugo Chavez that forced a critical television station off the air.

University students blocked one lane of a major highway hours after Radio Caracas Television ceased broadcasting at midnight and was replaced with a new state-funded channel. Chavez had refused to renew RCTV's broadcast license, accusing it of "subversive" activities and of backing a 2002 coup against him.

Two students were injured by rubber bullets and a third was hit with a tear gas canister, said Ana Teresa Yepez, an administrator at Caracas' Metropolitan University. She said about 20 protesters were treated for inhaling tear gas.

But liberals love the guy. He’s a Castro with cash to burn. And he’s burning it on Russian SU-27’s
Liberals/Democrats love Chavez because liberals are also communist Marxist socialists.

Don't think for a minute Hillary or Democrats won't try the same thing Chavez has been doing. That's why Democrats and McCain are brining in to the U.S.A hundreds of millions of UNEDUCATED 3rd world voters who would fall for the socialist line "take from the rich to give to the people".

Socialism doesn't work but liberals have not figured this out. Socialists from Lenin, Stalin, Pol Pot , Castro to Chavez have always followed the same procedure. A socialist state always has the same results: poverty, starvation, oppression , dictatorship, disease, genocide and misery.

No, this is not a brand new refrigerator. This is the meat display at the supermarket I go to. This is a daily occurrence as they have not had meat for quite a while, as a matter of fact since at least April 20th. they have received meat twice, both times selling it in less than two hours. This had never happened in the country's history, but between land being taken over and left unused and price controls, supply has simply disappeared. There you have it, a true, real accomplishment by the revolution! Ironically, below the fridge is a row of dog food bags, some of the imported. No comments! Hugo - The Democrap's Messiah running their version of Shangrali! Things to Come????? Better start stocking up!

Stupid liberals don't understand that empty shelves in supermarkets is just one of the first results of too much government planning or socialism which results in a collapsing economy. .

Liberals and everyone should watch the videos of the Russians standing all day in line just to get a stale loaf of bread. Maybe then they will understand that socialism doesn't work.

One capitalist man Thomas Edison had more inventions (thousands of them) than has the whole country of Cuba. And still liberals want to push us toward socialism and hate us conservatives because we oppose that and because we want smaller government, lower taxes and are for capitalism which drives technology and actually works.

Also everyone should read "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand, "The road to Serfdom by Hayek. Then people will understand that it is capitalism which has created this technology and great civilization. Edison , Intel, Wal-mart,AMD , Merk, etc. advanced technology but they are just products of capitalism.

Erm... Citgo is owned by the PDVSA, state oil company of Venezuela. It is actually Chavez’ company.

Chavez might be a totalitarian SOB, but it’s a bad headline nonetheless: “Fire upon” implies live ammo and deadly force, not “tear gas and rubber bullets.”

That’s just nit picking.
A wad from a blank can kill you.

They have absolutely figured it out. Sure, it brings all the heartbreak you mention, but it also puts them in control and that is all that matters to the left.

Hillary Clinton: 'Hugo Chavez in a pantsuit'
Democratic presidential candidate wants to 'take' oil profits to fund her own projects.

Longtime Internet users will recognize the phrase “All your base are belong to us.” It’s a comically stupid but popular English translation from a late ’80s Japanese video game. In a nutshell, it is a declaration of dominance – everything of yours is now mine.

That sentiment has emerged in Washington – from Hillary Clinton. The presidential candidate used it when she made her feelings about private property known at the Democratic National Committee’s winter meeting.

Clinton must have been shocked that the free market works so well that some Americans actually profit from dealings other than Whitewater. So she decided this sort of thing must end.

“The other day the oil companies recorded the highest profits in the history of the world. I want to take those profits. And I want to put them into a strategic energy fund that will begin to fund alternative smart energy, alternatives and technologies that will begin to actually move us toward the direction of independence,” she told the audience.

Notice she didn’t say tax the profits. She just said “take.” I shouldn’t be shocked. A left-wing politician wants to take from people who earn a profit and spend it on something that hasn’t made a profit, like much of the alternative energy field.

Naturally, a politician vowing to steal from the public received the typical ho-hum reaction in Washington. Most of the mainstream media ignored it entirely, though about 200,000 people viewed the comment on Youtube thanks to the Drudge Report.

The only really honest one was the one that originally elected Chavez, then all the ones since are questionable.

Hitler came to power in 1933 after his party got the most votes in an election with around a third of the popular vote. All the elections afterwards were not honest. The Nazi-set Reichstag fire triggered one a few months later. That election gave Nazi’s 44 percent of the vote and majority power. Then all “elections” afterwards were even worse shams.

We’ve been down this road before and Chavez is the latest to “lead the way.”

I’ve heard some image advertising from Citgo recently that talks about all the good things they are doing.

Its good for a laugh but heck the only Citgo station around here I see has higher prices anyway. I’m not even tempted to buy the stuff.

My father was born in Caracas in 1944 under Juan Vincente Gomez. Venezuela has a long history of peaceful coups and exiled Presidents. The joke is they become Ambassador to Spain. This guy will be the exception. Hopefully it won’t have to be American, but there will be a bullet in his brain within a few years. There was a time when we allowed our CIA to destablize and kill these bastards. Now probably any plan would proably be leaked to Brian Ross of ABC in its infancy. Let’s not forget this guy is best buddies with Ahmadinejad. When Iran gets nukes, Venezuela gets nukes.

There’s no better way for an insane megalomaniac dictator to fall than oppressing his own people.

Sheesh. Tell that to the people of Iraq. Decades of living under the thumb of tyranny kept Hussein in power until recent events. It's unlikely that the military is going to turn on Chavez at this point anymore than the military turning on the Chinese government after Tiennamen Square. Chavez will clench an iron fist and smash anyone who gets in his way.

Nothing demonstrates the utter stupidity and hypocrisy of the American Left than the Chavez regime.
