Troops Fire Upon Protesters in Venezuela

CARACAS, Venezuela - National Guard troops fired tear gas and rubber bullets Monday into a crowd of protesters angry over a decision by President Hugo Chavez that forced a critical television station off the air.

University students blocked one lane of a major highway hours after Radio Caracas Television ceased broadcasting at midnight and was replaced with a new state-funded channel. Chavez had refused to renew RCTV's broadcast license, accusing it of "subversive" activities and of backing a 2002 coup against him.

Two students were injured by rubber bullets and a third was hit with a tear gas canister, said Ana Teresa Yepez, an administrator at Caracas' Metropolitan University. She said about 20 protesters were treated for inhaling tear gas.

That’s just nit picking

Well, no it's not. There's a huge difference.

Nothing demonstrates the utter stupidity and hypocrisy of the American Left than the Chavez regime.

Agreed. Chavez can pull the plug on opposition broadcasters for anti-state activities but those evil nasty Republicans are the Nazis in the eyes of our media. Tell me we wouldn't like to pull the plug on SeeBS, for example?

One of the Fox News talking heads was reporting about this a few minutes ago. He said the people were running past a construction site, and the “problem with that” was that they were able to find pieces of concrete and other debris to throw. The problem with that? WTF?

Student’s opposing a radical leftist dictator go figure. Hugo may want to import some American college students to stage a counter protest.

OH MY GOD!

This empty refrigerator is a flashback from my childhood in Eastern Europe. My mother used to take me with her for a meat hunt after day care. We would wait about 1 mile from the slaughter house at the end of the day when workers went home. The security at the house was extremely tight but employees managed to hide pieces of meat, sausages, et.c. underneath their clothes and then sell it to the outside people. Working at slaughter house was a privileged job. Not anybody could get it. To be a manager at such place was a great fortune. Usually, this position was inherited down the family line. Too bad, those managers could not enjoy their money to the fullest extent. Too bad for them, I mean. If you display your wealth in some conspicuous form, you lose your job. And may be even go to jail for a short while. People of America, BE VERY VIGILANT WHO YOU VOTE FOR BECAUSE THIS COULD COME TO YOUR LOCAL SUPERMARKET. Hopefully, it will never happen here. Otherwise, there is no place to go in the world. America (even as is now) is the last bastion of capitalism and common sense.

“Troops Fire Upon Protesters in Venezuela”

The inevitable result of a power-mad communist-wannabee scumbag dicator.

Anyone surprised by this has the IQ of a lemon.

Liberals and everyone should watch the videos of the Russians standing all day in line just to get a stale loaf of bread.

They still sell stale bread in the state stores, you just don't have to wait in line for it anymore.

I didn't realize it was possible to have bread that's burned on the outside and raw in the middle until I bought it from Tagil Khleb.

I suppose this socialist clown thinks the “government” will drill and/or import, refine and distribute all gasoline after she runs all the oil companies out of business. In answer to that I say: name one thing-just one thing-our “government” does well. Other than waste taxpayers money I can’t think of a single thing!

Personally I think the US Post Office does a great job and has done so for a long time. Also US libraries are some of the best information resources available anywhere. Just my opinion though.

I wonder if Americans will ever wake up to what the left really is. I doubt it. They are too incensed about Bush "spying on innocent citizens".

No, I don't think they will. The Germans made mincemeat of the leftists, as did Stalin. They don't have a good track record.

Speaking of the left, why aren’t we hearing anything from the Kennedys, Harry Belafonte or Danny Glover about this? This is the guy they champion when his own country’s poverty rate has been climbing.

You know, out there in real world land, the normal democrat has NO clue who’s running their party. They still think it’s a party out to protect unions and such. They have NO clue who these liberal extremists running the party are and the drive by media does a good job keeping it all from them.

"You know, out there in real world land, the normal democrat has NO clue who’s running their party"

Absolutely. My mom votes straight democrat even though I tell her that they are against 90% of what she believes. She just thinks that some people have "too much money" and "there are too many guns" and that the democrats "care about the little guy".

I want to hear what Jimmy Carter and Danny Glover have to say about this! Probably a Carl Rove plot to discredit that wonderful leader, Chavez. It's Bush's fault!
