Analysis of the GOP Bloggers Straw Poll
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Ron Paul supporters like nobody less than Giuliani for whom most observers called that debate based on his response to Pauls blowback comments, even as the Ronbots contended that the very same exchange proved Ron Paul the obvious winner.
Unlike supporters of the realistic (and popular, arguably faddish and maybe unrealistic) candidates, Ron Paul supporters apparently would not vote for any other GOP candidate in the Republican primary though intriguingly, a minority would consider Tancredo.
I submit this as fair evidence that Ron Pauls online base of support is not drawn from actual Republican party primary voters. Activists for every other candidate have their fallbacks, nemeses and frenemies, but no other group is so far outside the mainstream as the activists for Ron Paul.
Maybe Ron Paul is the GOP vanguard. More likely, his support measures something besides the current Republican mood.

NOBODY fears ron paul. He is barely a mosquito on the windshield of politics.
He is an antiwar and therefore a darling of the troll left.
He was never a serious contender and should never have been on the serious debate dais.
In his book - Freedom Under Siege - Ron Paul promotes the Constitution-hating Lysander Spooner (whom he refers to simply as a "19th century writer") by pitching Spooner's notion that juries have the right to usurp the Constitutional right of the Supreme Court to rule on the constitutionality of legislative statutes.
His treatment of Spooner is one of uncritical adulation.
This is the same Spooner who is best known for his anarchist treatise: "No Treason: The Constitution Of No Authority" which argues that the Constitution is invalid, not the law of the land, and can be safely ignored.
That doesn’t sound like much of a booster to me. So he agrees with an early American scholar on a thing or two and he is a booster? I like Germany’s autobahns. So am I a Hitler supporter?
Hehe, looks like their still spamming the poll

Yes? And? You might want to go back and re-read the Constitution. Dr. Paul’s stances on all of those Bills are consistent with a “limited” FedGov of “enumerated powers”.
Spooner’s views are very much consistent with the Founders. Just where in the hell do you think that whole “We the People” came from? The individual was to be Sovereign, not subject.
He isn’t “anti-war”. He’s “anti” the way this war is being “fought”. If we are going to fight war, declare it, kick the hell out of them, and get out. Nation building isn’t part of the FedGov’s charter.
Lysander Spooner is not "an early American scholar" - he was an anarchist looney who achieved his greatest prominence for writings he published after the Civil War.
Would you call Emma Goldman an "early American scholar" too?
And this isn't "a thing or two" - he is agreeing with Spooner that a central pillar of the Constitution's structure should be hijacked.
Spooner's ideas on juries occupy a central place in his anti-Constitution philosophy - they are not an unrelated tangent to his larger project.
I like Germanys autobahns.
A Ron Paul supporter who is a fan of one of the most intrusive government-funded public works projects in Western history?
So am I a Hitler supporter?
For liking autobahns? Hardly.
But if you were a supporter of central tenets of Hitler's racial and political philosophy then you would be.
As a supporter of Spooner's attempted subversion of the US Supreme Court, Ron Paul is a champion of Spooner's ideas.
None of the Founders were anarchists.
Just where in the hell do you think that whole We the People came from?
It didn't come from anarchism or hell, but from natural law.
The individual was to be Sovereign, not subject.
The Founders did not imagine themselves to be setting up a system in which each individual was an absolute sovereign unto himself.
Semantic games. Ron Paul believes we should never have gone to war in Iraq, at all, period.
While he does believe he knows better than anyone else how to fight a war, he still believes this one shouldn't be fought at all.
And yes, we know he grandiosely sponsored a bill to declare war on Iraq - but he did this for show, in order to register his personal procedural protest against the manner in which his Congressional colleagues were giving the President permission to go to war.
He spoke against the war even as he sponsored the bill.
How many "average Republicans" would agree with Clarence Thomas on Commerce Clause issues? How many of the Republican candidates would?
Perhaps Dr. Paul's base is comprised of fed-up former republicans?
Have you noticed how many followers of Ron Paul are fans of Lew Rockwell and Prison Planet?
Have you noticed how many followers of Ron Paul are fans of Lew Rockwell and Prison Planet?
They were pro-individual Liberty. Something you seem to be fighting against.
Not the way it is being done, no. He voted FOR the Afghanistan war though. Doesn't exactly fit your slander of him...
No, I wasn't aware of any statistics on followers and fandom.....
I’m a fan of neither, but I still like Ron Paul...
