He isn’t “anti-war”. He’s “anti” the way this war is being “fought”. If we are going to fight war, declare it, kick the hell out of them, and get out. Nation building isn’t part of the FedGov’s charter.
Semantic games. Ron Paul believes we should never have gone to war in Iraq, at all, period.
While he does believe he knows better than anyone else how to fight a war, he still believes this one shouldn't be fought at all.
And yes, we know he grandiosely sponsored a bill to declare war on Iraq - but he did this for show, in order to register his personal procedural protest against the manner in which his Congressional colleagues were giving the President permission to go to war.
He spoke against the war even as he sponsored the bill.
