Despite the fact that Bush's approval ratings are only .2% higher than Democrats', this still technically qualifies as higher ratings than the Demoncratic Congress.
Furthermore, this comes with Bush being "bogged down" by the Iraq war and some Republicans disliking his stand on the amnesty immigration bill he's supporting.
Of course, most articles in the notoriously liberal media are infested with Bush's low job approval ratings while giving a pass to the Demoncrats' miserable, congressional ratings.

I think people need to be careful about interpreting these approval ratings.
Both Bush and the Congress suffer from erosion in their base that should not necessarily mean a shift in overall ideology that automatically leads one to a rejection of a convenient alternative.

Quibble - I do not believe that ANY Republican “dislikes” Bush’s stand on amnesty. The vast majority are FURIOUS about it, and the RINOs ADORE the fact that he is taking the heat to solve THEIR problem - and they don’t give a flying flip what harm they do to America in the process.

You remind me of the guy that says to his friend just after he won $100 million playing Powerball,”Yeah, but what about the taxes!”

Pelosi just went over to Europe where she proclaims her willingness to join Europ’s strategy to tie down the U.S. economy in a global warming stranglehold.
These Europeans are super bright.
Leave Euro’s export markets in China and India untouched and wide open from this global warming scene restrictions, allow unbridled and yes dirty growth, but entangle and shrink the U.S. which competes for exports to the same underdeveloped countries as Europeans do.
When Nancy comes back, expect her to tell us how we are again disrespected and hated, just in time to make up for the disappearance of French hate with their new government... no relief for Bush in that respect.
Europeans, in which ever way, direly need to transfer to the U.S. part of their 8% unemployment from which they want to escape but bump at limits under their steep welfare, taxation, and work rule systems.

hillorat.
Just imagine no taxes on lottery winnings!!!
Have you heard or has it occurred to you that the government already takes a cut when you buy your ticket.
Such taxation is all the German government takes.
Taxing winnings accd. to these people... would be double taxation.

That’s the truth! Frankly, I’m a little surprised Bush’s numbers aren’t down into the teens. If someone polled me right now I would disapprove of his job performance.

To: punchalibtraitorandfeelbetter
What neither the Dems nor the journalists nor Pessimistic Republicans understand is that low disapproval ratings for Bush do not translate into votes for Dems. I’ve become a “disapprover”, but there is no way on earth I would vote for any of the Democrat morons running for President.

".....especially the ones that ran on an anti immigration plank " No Democrats and no Republicans ran on an "anti-immigration plank". It is to our political enemies' advantage that we confuse "Immigration" with "Illegal Immigration." These are two different subjects. You confuse them at our peril. Please, I beg you, be careful to make the distinction.
