Ann Coulter: A Green Card in Every Pot
Human Events ^ | 30 may 07 | Ann Coulter

Americans -- at least really stupid Americans like George Bush -- believe the natural state of the world is to have individual self-determination, human rights, the rule of law and a robust democratic economy. On this view, most of the existing world and almost all of world history is a freakish aberration.

In fact, the natural state of the world is Darfur. The freakish aberration is America and the rest of the Anglo-Saxon world.

The British Empire once spread the culture of prosperity around the globe -- Judeo-Christian values, tolerance, equality, private property and the rule of law. All recipients of the British Empire's largesse benefited, but the empire's most successful colony was the United States.

[sigh] That’s why I gave up on immigration threads for a while: Hyperbole.

I’ve said my piece. Maybe not so much for you as others on the thread: Don’t have so much fun enjoying the bitching about the problem that you’d rather do that than have anything happen to fix even a part of it.

Hundreds of millions of poor, uneducated, unskilled, ignorant, proto socialist immigrants doesn’t help any economy. Bringing in hundreds of millions of uneducated, unskilled immigrants hurts the economy badly and is a huge burden to the tax payers and economy in Social security, medicaid, Medicare, social programs, and welfare benefits.

If population increases helped the economy then why are so many third world countries that have high birth rates like Mexico complete economic disasters?

It is technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, free markets and automation that increases productivity and raises living standards. These uneducated immigrants stifle innovation, stifle automation and advancement of technology.

Japan doesn’t need to import millions of Mexicans . They build robots to work in their car factories. That hasn’t hurt the quality of their cars by the way.

They are doing jobs Americans aren’t doing.

Oh, don't be such a gullible little sheep!

It may blow your circuts to learn that, in the bent-back world of American agriculture -- you know, McCain's poster industry for "jobs Americans won't do™" -- illegal immigrants account for -- brace yourself -- a whopping 25% of the workforce. Fully 75% of that same workforce are legal American citizens and Resident Aliens with valid Green Cards.

The manifest truth is that Americans ARE doing "jobs Americans won't do™"; that there are, in fact, NO "jobs that Americans won't do™", unless, of course, the government continues to allow business to exploit an imported slave class to take those jobs from those Americans willing to do them.

What kind of Americans do those jobs? Glad you asked, because, when I went off to collge, I met incoming Freshmen who had spent the summers of their High School lives doing some of those jobs to -- gasp -- earn money for college. Can you even FATHOM it? WHITE American kids doing bent-back strawberry picking, and harvesting sugar beets to earn money for college. A fairly common moneymaker among my college friends was to work a summer job in the Alaskan canneries to make tuition for the following year, and that included the women!

A trio of guys I knew took all of spring term off so they could fish the herring run off the Alaskan coast. They worked their fingers to the bone and got nearly zero sleep for a month, almost fell into the icy Pacific and drowned more than once, hauled so many sardines they almost foundered the boats, and, in that one season, made enough money to pay for all four years of tuition, room, and board.

"Jobs Americans won't do™" my fine, white...

But, hey, whatever you do, don't tell McCain; he might have an aneurysm!

18 months from now just as many will be violating those borders as they are today, and probably even more so.

Not that long. The North American Intergration plan will be submitted to two branches of our government in September 2007.

Hear those bells ringing?

Mass immigration helps to expand the economy but I would agree it's not necessarily beneficial when total costs are taken into account. Low-skilled immigration is primarily fueling the service industries, which require little skills and don't pay much while sticking taxpayers with all the social bills. I see no reason to base economic policy on that type of immigration and would prefer one of selective high skills instead, but not where the sole purpose is to drive down wages as the H-1B program does.

Politicians in DC for whatever reason are determined to import a massive poverty class that will come to haunt this country in the not-too-distant future.

” I get a kick out of how the moonbats deride Bush for being stu.... Wait a minute. Has Ann Coulter changed sides? Oh my. There’s revolution in Mudville tonight.”

Thing is, GWB has proven the moonbats to be correct on their assessment of him. That is the most unfortunate aspect of the GWB presidency. It also appears that “strategery” really WAS just dumb luck afterall.

“They are doing jobs Americans aren’t doing.”

Perhaps. But Americans might do these jobs at a higher wage rate. As Thomas Sowell observed, journalists (who say “they are doing jobs American won’t do”), wouldn’t do journalism either at half the pay. It is all about supply and demand and the equilibrium market price. Naturally that price depends on whether or not you increase the labor supply with cheap immigrant labor.

With or without immigration (illegal in this case), our chickens will be plucked. The price of chicken will vary. Personally, I’d like a United States without illegal immigrant labor. This would free up the chicken plucking jobs for people who have worthless degrees like English and journalism. I know that I'd have to pay a little more for chicken, but it would be worth it.

No offense FRiend.

I just one time thought that Ann was wrong about something, and later she was proved to be Right.

I pretty much agree with everything that Ann Coulter has publicly said over the last 6 years or so.

I can find nothing that Ann says to be disagreeable, and so I teased you a bit.

I agree. I would rather pay more for goods and services if it means that the hired help gets better pay and benefits.

“I should explain that further. Even in sarcasm, I don’t believe one of our own should call the President stupid.”

I know I should agree with you here.... But what else can you call it? Insanity? Diabolical? Hostile to American values?

I can think of a lot of things to call his immigration policy, and “stupid” is probably the most benign. I’m open to suggestions though.

No it's not. For too long on FR those of us who said it was comming have been laughed at, ridiculed, made fun of and called tin foilers.

Well, he who laughs last laughs best, however, losing ones country is nothing to laugh about.

” Here’s why Bush is for amnesty in a nutshell. “Privatize the profits and socialize the costs.”
What this means is the corporate boys who financed him get megaprofits from lowering wages in their meatpacking plants and other industries like agriculture (Privatize Profits) and dump the costs of education, medical care, law enforcement for the millions of illegals on the middle class, who are losing their jobs and being taxed to support the illegals.

Short terms profits - billions. Long term result, America turns into a third world slum with Venezuela type politicians and a dead Republican party. Thanks, Jorge!”

You nailed it!!

At first I read the comment about “really stupid Americans like George Bush” as a joke. Ronald Reagan was “really stupid” for thinking he could defeat communism. George Bush was “really stupid” (to liberals) for seeing evil in the world.

But on rereading:
“Americans — at least really stupid Americans like George Bush — believe the natural state of the world is to have individual self-determination, human rights, the rule of law and a robust democratic economy.”
I think she is serious. Perhaps she overstates somewhat. It’s comments like this that make it difficult for me to forward many of Ann’s articles. Sigh.
