One of world's top 10 spammers held in Seattle Feds say computer users will notice decrease in junk e-mail following arrest

Updated: 45 minutes ago SEATTLE - A 27-year-old man described as one of the world’s most prolific spammers was arrested Wednesday, and federal authorities said computer users across the Web could notice a decrease in the amount of junk e-mail.

Robert Alan Soloway is accused of using networks of compromised “zombie” computers to send out millions upon millions of spam e-mails.

“He’s one of the top 10 spammers in the world,” said Tim Cranton, a Microsoft Corp. lawyer who is senior director of the company’s Worldwide Internet Safety Programs. “He’s a huge problem for our customers. This is a very good day.”

I've always thought people like this should be subject to aversion conditioning as part of their sentence, so that they break out or have a panic attack if they try to even touch a computer.

The internet is essential to our economy and that includes email. I hope they throw away the key on this guy.

What? You mean I’m not gonna get 400 spam e-mails for Cialis, Viagra, and other crap I don’t want or need? Cool!

Now if they can just get rid of the Ron Paul spammers.

He should be put in stocks in Pioneer Square, and rotten vegetables and eggs should be provided for whoever would avail themselves thereof.

I’d drive up to Seattle to do my part.

Let’s have a global civil lawsuit for time loss in spam clean up!

Now that is a village action I can support!

I'll believe that when I see it.

In any case, I hope they make an example out of this asshole.

Not like it ain’t happening already. There’s a group of about three people over on another board I post on. The volume of bandwidth they’re wasting is INCREDIBLE.

Look at the bright side. There is always a delete key, and the pixels they are using are recycled.

Id like to know WHY an a$$ like that would even BOTHER with spamming...why???! What does he get out of it? A sense of power? Is his life THAT empty that he has to figure out ways of causing hate and discontent with others? Or does he get paid money to do that? And if so, by whom? What do THOSE people get out of spamming? Has someone in their compan(ies) not yet figured out that the amount of spam is exponentially proportional to the absolute refusal by people to avoid their products?

I dont get people's thinking sometimes.
