Ron Paul's immigration ideas
North County Times ^ | May 24, 2007 | Bill Hasty

Posted on 05/31/2007 8:18:49 AM PDT by The_Eaglet

A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked.

This is Congressman Ron Paul's six-point plan: 1. Physically secure our borders and coastlines. ... 2. Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. ... 3. No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 million to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That's a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws. 4. No welfare for illegal aliens.

From what I understand of Ron, he wouldn't fight the terrorists abroad no matter the condition of our borders.

This was your statement. The burden of proof is on you to back it up.

The folks over at DU love him.

Would you like some links on the fallacy of "guilt by association" arguments?

Actually, yes I do. It is very simple to find all sorts of things. The government makes it easy for a citizen of reasonable intelligence to find them.

Now now, don’t be taunting the Istas sparky.

Too late! They're such fun to watch, like kicking over an anthill. Only they're not as dangerous or annoying as ants.

Bite me, a**hole

Wow. What deflection of rhetoric, what logic, what convincing strategy which will no doubt lead your Kool-Aid sogged masses to victory!

Lemme know when he either 1--raises anywhere near a number of dollars which requires TWO commas, 2--raises anywhere near a number of supporters which will allow his polling numbers to climb out of the asterisk range, 3--has a foreign policy more attuned to 2008 than 1808.

And you might want to read this little story here:

“Our enemy today, as formidable as he is, cannot compare to the armed might of the Soviet Union in the fall of 1962.

Wisdom and caution on Kennedy’s part in dealing with the crisis was indeed “a profile in courage.” But his courage was not only in his standing up to the Soviets, but his willingness to re-examine our nuclear missile presence in Turkey, which if it had been known at the time would have been condemned as an act of cowardice.

President Bush now has the challenge to do something equally courageous and wise. This is necessary if we expect to avert a catastrophic World War III. When the President asks for patience as he and his advisors deliberate, seeking a course of action, all Americans should surely heed his request.

Mr. Speaker, I support President Bush and voted for the authority and the money to carry out his responsibility to defend this country, but the degree of death and destruction and chances of escalation must be carefully taken into consideration.

It is only with sadness that I reflect on the support, the dollars, the troops, the weapons and training provided by US taxpayers that are now being used against us. Logic should tell us that intervening in all the wars of the world has been detrimental to our self-interest and should be reconsidered.

The efforts of a small minority in Congress to avoid this confrontation by voting for the foreign policy of George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and all the 19th century presidents went unheeded. The unwise policy of supporting so many militants who later became our armed enemies makes little sense whether it’s bin Laden or Saddam Hussein. A policy designed to protect America is wise and frugal and hopefully it will once again be considered. George Washington, as we all know, advised strongly, as he departed his presidency, that we should avoid all entangling alliances with foreign nations.

The call for a non-interventionist foreign policy over past years has fallen on deaf ears. My suggestions made here today may meet the same fate. Yet, if truth is spoken, ignoring it will not negate it. In that case something will be lost. But, if something is said to be true and it is not and is ignored, nothing is lost. My goal is to contribute to the truth and to the security of this nation.”

Ah but Dr. Paul we aided the Soviets also in WWII did we not?

Dr. Paul’s solution for 9/11? place a bounty on their heads (we did that, no?) and let the private industry sort it all out. None of this nasty war business. When the Cole was hit we should have ran away. We did not listen, and not look.

Appeasement president? no thanks, we had that with Billy-Jeff.

Saddam Hussein had said that Americans do not have the patience for war. So true.

“Physically secure the borders” - Yes. “More border troops” can be recalled or not deployed at all.

Good fences make good neighbors.

“REP. RON PAUL, R-TEXAS, GOP PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: They attack us because we’ve been over there, we’ve been bombing Iraq for 10 years. We’ve been in the Middle East. I think Reagan was right. We don’t understand the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics.”

"Have you ever read about the reasons they attacked us? They attack us because we've been over there. We've been bombing Iraq for 10 years," he said.

5. Don’t make any more stupid “we were responsible for 9/11” comments during debates.

He didn't say we were responsible for 9/11.
He explained why they attacked us.

You need to check him out more if you believe that he wouldn't fight.

He was a flight surgeon during Viet Nam.

Heard him on Miller too. The world according to Ron Paul:

1) Arabs really really want peace and want to make peace treaties with us and Israel.

2) Suicide bombing was not a tactic employed until we entered Iraq (hmmm….guess her forgot about those 3000 New Yorkers?)
