Illegal Immigration: Who is responsible/accountable? (VANITY)

No matter one’s position on immigration, the nation is in agreement: there is a problem that needs to be addressed. The other no-brainer is that the problem stems in large part because our laws have been set aside, if not openly flouted by many (businesses, police, sanctuary cities etc).

Why did that happen and who specifically is responsible? (In this, and previous administrations)

When confronted with catastrophes, recently 9/11 and Katrina, there is always a howl in Washington: Who is responsible? Who should be fired? Could it have been prevented…?

And we get endless hearings and/or prosecutions, sometimes on matters as silly as the outing of a dizzy CIA blonde. Now we have over 12 millions ILLEGALS running around the country, and our laws have been ignored for at least 20 years, and Washington can’t be bothered to figure out who/what is responsible?

I understand it is so because the two parties share the guilt, but you would think that some lonely voices in Congress and in the press would be asking who are the individuals and agencies responsible for getting us here.

Perhaps these voices are out there (Duncan Hunter? Tom Tancredo? Others?) Even so, the media is drowning them and George W. Bush is telling us that courage/courage/courage is to follow him and Teddy Kennedy, once more, over the cliff. No thanks, Mr. President.

Perhaps the responsibility is so diffuse as to be intractable, though surely at the very top presidents and attorney generals should shoulder some of the blame (as should Congress).

We need to know who/what failed before we can fix it.

We also need to punish those who failed to uphold the law. Otherwise why should they uphold it next time?

When our elected officials complain that they can’t deport 12 million people, It reminds me of when I was a kid.

My bedroom would get so messy I would be wading around knee deep in clothes, toys, and bedding etc. My mother would finally get sick of looking at it and tell me to clean it up. I would look around and whine “I can’t clean all this”.

My response to the government is the same as my mother told me. “You made the mess, you can clean it up. And don’t shove it under the bed because I will be checking.”

Justice is essential in society. The rule of law is essential to justice.

The lack of enforcement of immigration law is the reason, and all of Washington for the past 100 years(?) is responsible.

The cause is a gradual change in values - we hardly value the rule of law or justice anymore. In fact, 'justice' has been redefined in oppressor/victim relativistic terms.

Generations have been brainwashed in this mentality.

True, and one way to stop it or slow it is to make someone responsible for its consequences and mete out harsh sanctions.

Past Presidents Bush and Clinton along with the current President are responsible because they were/are the chief law enforcement officers in the country! IF any one of them had ever ordered the border closed and illegals deported, we would not have the problem that we have today. The biggest offender is elPresidente Jorge Boosh!

Who is responsible? Congress and each Administration for not pressuring INS to do its job and for not giving enough money to patrol the borders. Now all we get is more illegals crossing the border and more nonsensical legislation to add onto the books not to mention the recent legislation provides an avenue for the RAT legislators to increase unnecessary spending by $17 billion.
