Yes, I agree. It would be comforting to dismiss this as empty propoganda--and perhaps it is--but I would not be too certain. Especially over the long term (say, the next 15-20 years).
Continental Europe is already practically defenseless. Britain is a bit less underprepared, but hardly a bastion of military strength anymore.
Given the US's weak-kneed response to Iran, it appears that we are headed in the same direction--just a bit more slowly. And once the US capitulates--perhaps because it is simply more comforting to regard the jihadist threat as "overblown"--who will be left to defend effectively against it?

I dont see why hitting LA would accomplish anything. Not one Fortune 500 company is headquartered here, and half the people arent Americans. Even if the Port of LA is taken out, the rest of the ports in North America could probably take up the slack with a little time....

If such a thing should come to pass it would be open season on all professed Muslims (and their defenders) in this country.
The more I think about it, the more I think the next attack will be against our children. Think of Beslan writ large. Think of the attempted bombing at the Oklahoma University football stadium. Think of Virginia Tech (I know Cho wasn't Muslim as far as we know, but the incident sure captured the imagination of the jihadis).
I think the next attack will be against places where there are high concentrations of American young people. And it doesn't even need to be in the US. Think of the places in Mexico where American college students converge for Spring Break
After the next attack happens, the media will obsess over it and start to assign blame. They will immediately point to Bush, the Iraq war, “torture” at Abu Ghraib, poverty among jihadis, discrimination against jihadis. If Bush is in power, or it’s a democrat regime, there will be talk about about tracking down the people who did this, but no action. The government will assume draconian dictatorial powers to monitor citizens so that they don’t ever say anything bad against the jihadis.
and yet, bush wants to bring another 7000 iraqis into the country at our expense.
