And the EPA fuel economy minimums are set by the US government.

Not foreigners.

Why you persist in thinking that the world dictates our emission standards is beyond me. And thus, why we should give a flying rat’s @ss about the rest of Euroweenie-land also escapes me.

China doesn’t care, and we can learn from that.

Once you set the gas emission according according the US standards and the world follow it, then we settle it. If we have a democrat President and the US gas emission standards are not imposed on the rest of the world then this President may very well sign on something like Kyoto, it will be a disaster. President Bush is very wise in settling this issue according to the US terms.

“Thanks for pointing this part of the article out John. As this is exactly what I’m talking about when I say those of us who make our living in the manufacturing industry are not enjoying an increase in prosperity...”

Not surprising.

“I have a sinking feeling that after the bill is killed the immigration threads will slow down, you won’t hear a peep from all these people and the borders will remain wide open for several more years.”

I wouldn’t hope for a fence; not with the dems holding a slim majority. Thank god that some of the labor unions apparently sided with Americans this time instead of the queers on the left and twisted the arms of their senators and reps.

Better to elect real conservatives in the primaries and hope for a sweep in ‘08. Remember the dems won in ‘06 because the republicans turned left and they ran against George Bush. If we turn the republicans back to the right guess what? The dems don’t have George Bush to run against; only their ideas (anti American socialism) and platform (pretty much a mirror of the communist’s party’s platform).

So the news is good in my humble opinion. Conservatives might win the day in Nov ‘08; then we can twist their arms for a fence and deportation.

And, I wonder if there is less interest in new houses because of new fears of cut corners and poor quality.

“Your mechanic (plumber, etc.) speaks good English” probably has a greater customer appeal than it did a decade ago.
