Barnes has been supporting Bush for years on eliminating our Southern border.
"Barnes" or "Barf". Same difference on illegals.
Barnes is one reason I stopped watching Brit Hume's show.
Kondracke is the other.
There may be something to like in a antibiotic from China. Too bad the other 99.99% is contains nothing but poisons and toxins.

You all scream things like "Enforce the laws" (Which hasn't worked to date) "Deport them" (How?) "Punish business that hire illegals" (again how?) etc while making utterly NO effort to actually explain how any of that would actually be done. ENFORCE THE LAWS -- you claim "it hasn't worked". My claim, it hasn't been tried.
1. Build the Fence. It is the law that we need to build the fence, the original 700 miles, and more if needed. Using the double fences style like the one Duncan Hunter got built for San Diego.
2. Prosecute all people caught sneaking in. They need to spend some time in detention, mabye on work farms, before being give the free ride back to Mexico.
3. Repair relations with the Border Patrol. Consider pardoning the agents who have been successfully targeted by Mexican authorities for doing their job.
4. Until very recently Jorge Arabusto had almost ZERO prosecutions of illegal employers. This seems to have picked up. Keep it up.
5. Turn off the social services spigot. Pass Federal laws making it illegal to award welfare, section-8 and other programs to illegals.
6. Run ads on the many Mexican language stations telling people "If you are illegal, the laws are changing. You will be punished if caught. Please go home".
etc.
There is a lot that could be done. It's not true that "we've tried and failed". California voters passed 187 and the corrupt Gray Davis refused to defend it in court.
That's "not trying", not "failing".
The 12 million brought themselves here and will take themselves home when Mexico has more appeal than the USA.

This article reads like it was written by the WhiteHouse propaganda department and then slapped with deadhead Fred's name as the author, with approval of course.
This bill is an amnesty. No thanks.

Bush says we’re unpatriotic racists, Barnes says we’re crazy.
Neither appears to have read “How to Win Friends and Influence People”.

The GOP leadership is slowing killing off the party of Reagan.
Last week I mailed the RNC my card (cut in two) in an envelope that was meant for a donation. Don't expect it'll be noticed, though.

Why would anyone bother reading Fred Barnes anymore? He is part of the problem, not the solution.
Just one more beltway idiot.

Conservatives are sometimes blind to what's in their own best interest.
Hugo Chavez is only doing what's in the best interest of his people. Apparently they don't know it either.

You all just want to vent your bile and hate about not getting ONLY 100% of ONLY what you want in politics. Damn you people with standards. Don't you know you should accept whatever Bush says as good!?
You all scream things like "Enforce the laws" (Which hasn't worked to date)
It'd be nice to see if it did work. It hasn't been tried yet.
"Punish business that hire illegals" (again how?)
Why not ask Bush this question? The bill he and Ted Kennedy support increases fines on businesses that hire illegal immigrants.

At the top of the list of what conservatives can get is significantly beefed-up security along America's southern border. And that's just what's in the initial bill negotiated by Republican senator Jon Kyl and Democratic senator Ted Kennedy.
This bill is a farce. It exists because law enforcement doesn't enforce our existing immigration laws. Fred is naive for thinking law enforcement will enforce any new immigration law when they refuse to enforce the existing immigration laws.
