Hey David ... I'll say it for you. George W. Bush's policies and actions in the White House have been opposed to the beliefs of the vast majority of people who elected him. No Child Left Behind? No thanks. Prescription Drugs? No thanks. Failure to veto McCain-Feingold? No thanks. Failure to enact meaningful tax reform? No thanks. Largest growth in government spending? No thanks. The list goes on and on and on. Bush has never failed to "reach across the aisle" to the people who for years now have constantly threatened him with impeachment, have called him everything but a Child of God, have attempted to usurp his authority as president. And every time he reaches across the aisle to Ted "The Swimmer" Kennedy who is a murdering SOB, George W. Bush turns his back on me. I will grant you that he gave us strict constructionists like we asked for, but one of them only after we raised hell. Yet I have stood by the President. Defended him and supported him. I have campaigned for him. I have convinced people that they can hold their noses and vote for him. All Bush has left me to support him on is the WOT (and there he's working very hard to screw it up - or at least shift the blame). So I'll say it, David. Now is the time for Bush to ante up. Drop this amnesty crap. If you can't do it because it is the RIGHT THING TO DO, then do it because your supporters are demanding it! And, while we're on the subject, Mr. President, the next time you feel like calling me a bigot or saying I'm unpatriotic, just STFU. That dog don't hunt and it just makes you look like even more of a leftist b@$#@%d. I agree. And bolded the parts I especially agree with.

I voted for him twice, so to say that President George W.Bush is a huge disappointment is actually an understatement. He has betrayed me and will betray the country with this criminal amnesty bill. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that criminal, lawless thuggish behavior would actually be rewarded.

Since when is enforcing the laws on the books a Far Right position? When it's in the best interests of cheap labor forces to make the administration and members of congress say so.

The GOOD NEWS is President Bush has finally found an issue about which he is passionate enough to b-slap the opposition over. The BAD NEWS is the issue is amnesty and the opposition is US!
Sad, but true.

Actually I agree with that. This idea of changing the tone being so all important is ridiculous. Of course people will get testy. But the guy who got elected saying he will change the tone in Washington shouldn't be doing this to the people who voted for him.

Bush really believes his [don’t call it] amnesty is the right thing to do come hell or high water, plus now he is quite desparate for a legacy other than the Iraq debacle. He sees an immigration “victory” that will be hailed in the worldwide liberal MSM for “bringing them out of the shadows”, etc. as just such a legacy builder.
Also, legacy building is the reason for Bush’s suddenly going green, IMO. Policy wonks are pushing Bush on both these issues is my guess.

Close to 80% of America doesn’t want this bill. I wish we had that many Conservatives, but it’s more like Bush choosing to single out his base. My frustration with him cannot be put into words.

Blast it! Forget the president on this, he is a lost cause. Instead concentrate on our useless Congress. Those folk can still be scared into doing the right thing if enough folk push...Cut off their money, let them know your vote is at stake and mean it. No help on campaigns, nothing. Let them get elected with their new constituency, the vast illegal vote.

Since when is enforcing the laws on the books a Far Right position? That change went through about the same time that expecting Republicans to advance the party platform became "extremism."

Well, I don’t see how this bill can please the labor unions. If the Republicans in congress can be split off from Bush, who obviously doesn’t give a damn at this point what the voters think, and if we put enough pressure on them to worry about re-election, there might be some hope of forming another Reagan coalition which includes blue collar workers and perhaps more blacks than the last time around.
For their own, very different reasons, blacks can be none too happy with the prospect of a flood of illegal hispanic immigrants that threatens their place and power in the welfare system.
Even the black gangs can’t be too happy about it, as we see from the turf wars in LA and elsewhere.

Why is Bush and the government bringing in so many Muslims? What is going on? He is facilitating ethnic/religious cleansing in Iraq which in turn will reduce sectarian violence and he can proclaim victory. Therefore, be prepared for many, many more Iraqis in your neighborhood.
