In Battle for U.S. Carbon Caps, Eyes and Efforts Focus on China
By Steven Mufson Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, June 6, 2007; Page D01
Supporters of limits on greenhouse gases are betting that the road to U.S. climate-change legislation runs through China.
This year, China is expected to surpass the United States as the leading producer of greenhouse gases, and one reason the Bush administration has declined to enact emissions limits is its concern about leaving China unchecked.
So a variety of lawmakers, environmentalists and business leaders are looking at ways to engage China in the battle against climate change -- or pay the price for doing nothing. Proposed strategies range from providing financing and technology transfers to imposing special carbon-based import tariffs or changing supply contracts

Bush does not display enough resolve these days to impress China, regarding N. Korea.
Ping!
Anyone who thinks this will make the enviros turn on China and give the US a break is out of his mind.
My dog, this is INSANITY!!!!!
If we could repeal the Second Law of Thermodynamics, we could quash this ignorant hysteria and make dry ice.
I originally read that as part of a serial news link.
We have to return to a non-video mentality.
Look at what is happening on the internet. everything is being turned toward video.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. And now there aren't many average folks who are willing to read a thousand words. they'd rather watch a movie about it.
The fact that Bush is even entertaining this nonsense for a minute demonstrates that he must be stupid or a pawn in somebody's game.
It's so somple that a child could understand.

I agree wholeheartedly with the above statement. And have considerable thermodynamics training.
How true.
So who is our leader in this latest war against PC Junk Science. I'm looking at the presidential candidates and I don't see much help on that front.
We need a leader who is willing to shoot down Gore and his crowd and their crazy, self-serving and dangerous policies.
Yeah, good luck with that!
China has not dumbed down it's educational system enough to swallow that crap, and that is really saying something about Western education.

This is why the left is doing a Carbon Ponzi scheme. It isn’t to get China to cut down. It is to tax the US so that Chine doesn’t have to cut down.
That sound you hear is a billion chinamen laughing at envirowhacks.....
I'm very disappointed at Bush and all the Republicans on this issue. It is as if they are simply throwing their hands up and saying to themselves that to get elected I have to push this junk science.
I see them as used car salesmen hawking a junk car with a good paint job despite knowing it is a fraud just for the money.
