If you were thinking that the grassroots campaign to draft a peoples candidate for the 08 election would result in a people-friendly candidate welcomed by great fanfare equal to that of the last American Idol, think again Keep in mind that Dick Cheney had spent almost thirty years as the most bi-partisan respected man in Washington DC before becoming Vice President Dick Cheney, the most partisan hated and targeted man in Washington DC, all in a matter of a few politically charged moments.

Aint American politics fun! Lefties hate him for being too right and Righties hate him for being, well, too right
as opposed to their recent record of being all wrong.

Fred hit the nail on the head when he referred to his critics in the media as “bozos”.
~snip~
Righties are equally quick to cast doubt on his conservative credentials, working harder to disqualify Thompsons clear grassroots advantage than to chronicle Obamas missing resumé or Hillarys criminally Marxist resumé.
~snip~
Some are concerned that members of the Bush team are lining up behind Thompson, forgetting that those folks were also members of the Reagan team. They wonder if Thompson is being baptized into the Bush doctrine on globalization, but forget to ask if Bush team members are just happy to have someone more conservative than a Bush to get behind for a change.

I REALLY like JB Williams:)
Man!! If I've heard that once, I've heard it a.....
Oh wait. I haven't heard that even once. Anybody know a right-wing website I might test this authors assertion at?

Soooo stealing your graphic!
You are soooo welcome too it...
(I have many)
[((ping))]
i love that graphic!! LOL!
You’ll see proof of that on some FR threads. No one is perfect or conservative enough for some right voters - and Hillary and the Dems are depending on that!
Thank goodness Fred is stepping into the race - someone I can actually support enthusiastically, rather than vote for the party’s nominee just to beat HRC!
Me too Mom!
Sorry, didn’t catch it! Sorry for the double post!

“Anybody know a right-wing website I might test this authors assertion at?”
There is a fair amount of Fred bashing here on FR. Some conservatives have a very poor opinion of Fred.
I am simply enraged by the behavior around here.
I don’t mind real debate but the repeating the following on EVERY SINGLE THREAD is NOT debate:
“He’s lazy.” (No, he’s not, according to his employees)
“He needs a face lift.” (I don’t care what he looks like, I want the job done!”)
“He needs to get in right now.” (Why? It’s HIS campaign, and if you can’t trust him with the campaign, how can you trust him with the country?”
“He didn’t accomplish anything.” (We post accomplishment after accomplishment, and they come back in ten minutes saying the same thing.)
The same people are trolling and destroying the Thompson threads, by posting the SAME “questions” on every thread. I would have liked to transcribe the interview last night but the gnats swarmed the thread, and I couldn’t get it going in time. We shouldn’t have to wade through so many trolls to get to the actual discussion.

I couldn't agree more, Politicalmom.
I don’t see any politician as a “savior”. The People are the ones that have to step up and make D.C. operate as it should.
And I do like Duncan Hunter, though I’m realist enough to know he probably will not get the nod this turn around.
McCain and Rudy, hell, most of the field are completely unacceptable or have little movement to go any further.
Then there is Mitt and, no, I don’t trust recent conversions to conservatism. I don’t know if he’s a liberal either. What I do know is he seems to thought shift depending on the environment he finds himself in. That makes him a politician first. That’s not necessarily a disqualifier on the surface, except we all know if your conservative values are not embedded in your soul, once in the liberal bastion of D.C. you’ll sell out in a heartbeat.
That makes him a non-starter for me.
Which leaves Fred. I know little about Fred, other then he’s a good speaker and leaves people with a good “vibe”. Reagan did the same. So did Arnold. While I presume in deed he’s far closer to Reagan then Arnold, to the degree I don’t know as of yet. We’ll see.
I will say the ONE thing I like about him off the bat is that he left Washington D.C. voluntarily. That shows some common sense.
