>> was hoping that some staffer came forward and said that Hillary had been having an affair with them for months now...

C’mon now... who or what with an IQ of at least primate level would admit to having sex with... that THING... ?? :-)

Unfortunately, as we know already, the media will only support a liberal.
Actually, it's the reverse - Big Journalism only calls someone a "liberal" - or a "progressive" - as an expression of support. And only calls someone a "conservative" or "right wing" as an expression of opprobrium.

That's a distinction without a difference, you might suggest - except that the distinction has explanatory power. Journalists promote the establishment known as journalism (actually big journalism, often referred to as "the media"). And politicians who have no other agenda than good PR for themselves, go along to get along with Big Journalism.

As of right now, the Democrats control more of the states’ House of Representative delegations than Republicans do. IIRC, two more with a couple evenly split. You can be sure that the Democrats will use their plurality of state delegations and majority in total representatives to affect any procedural rules in order to get their party’s candidate the Presidency.

Isn't it becoming obvious that Gore will be the democrat nominee? He has put his name in the forefront with the liberal elite, Hollywood etc. He isn't associated with the war. And as far as I recall he hates the Clintons. Evidence to the contrary, he feels like he was cheated out of the election of 2000. So he must be trying to vindicate his perceived role in history.

The longer he waits to announce, the more he can be a loose canon and go around the world preaching.

BTW, has anyone asked the democrat candidates, what would they do about the war. The only thing I hear is harping about Bush lied and we have to get out. Any of them say how?

The Democrats would be stupid to nominate Hillary. Obama and Edwards would be tough to beat, even for Thompson, but Hillary could be beaten by just about any Republican.

‘The Democrats would be stupid to nominate Hillary. Obama and Edwards would be tough to beat, even for Thompson, but Hillary could be beaten by just about any Republican.’

Edwards is going to be a drag on any ticket, because he’s a lightweight in a debate, as Cheney demonstrated clearly in the 04 race when they went head to head. If that debate had been a fight, it would have been stopped.

Obama appears to have a touch of ‘Gore Disease’ in that he just makes things up, states them as fact, then looks absolutely ABSURD. The claim that ‘10,000 died in the tornado’ is just one example of many with him.

To me, any of the top five GOP candidates in pretty much any combination could beat them....excluding Guiliani being at the top of the ticket. The GOP ‘base’ will not support a ticket with Rudy as President.

They might...’might’ support a ticket with his being the VP, but its a huge risk given his stance on abortion, guns, gay rights - basically his domestic policy viewpoint.

Like you, I’m confident any GOP candidate can beat Hillary Clinton. She’s already paying a price for being so over hyped for almost two decades, and she constantly ‘underperforms’ as a result.

This week we celebrate a special birthday. Monica Lewinsky turns 31.

Can you believe it? It seems like only yesterday she was crawling around

the White House on her hands and knees, and putting everything in her mouth.

They grow up so fast, don’t they?

“Edwards is going to be a drag on any ticket, because he’s a lightweight in a debate”
That was four years ago, and he has matured since.

“Obama appears to have a touch of ‘Gore Disease’ in that he just makes things up, states them as fact, then looks absolutely ABSURD.”
Never underestimate your rival. Obama is much more charismatic than Gore, and that will count in the long run more than any gaffe.

“To me, any of the top five GOP candidates in pretty much any combination could beat them”

If things were going well in Iraq, the GOP would have the upper hand. However, if Iraq continues to deteriorate, as it appears to be doing, the clear advantage will be to the Democrats (unless Hillary is the nominee). The caveat being a Third Party Antiwar candidate who could split the Democratic vote.

No, he’s just as much a lightweight today as he was six years ago, or three years ago. ‘War on terror is a bump sticker slogan’ demonstrates it beyond any doubt. Lightweight, and afraid.

I’m not ‘underestimating him’ With Obama, the danger is overestimating him, again because while he’s a very good public speaker, after your done listening it dawns on you he’s just making shit up (10,000 dead from the tornado). Second, he’s got some ugly ethical problems looming due to the curious property transfers he’s been a party to the past couple of years.

Iraq. Some of us understood when the ‘surge’ was announced that this was going to be a very bloody summer. If it works, Iraq won’t be ‘the issue’ come 2008.

If it doesn’t work, the politics don’t matter, what comes next from the jihadists does. I don’t think you can blame Romney, Hunter or Fred Thompson, or Guiliani for the conduct of the war, and unlike the conventional political chatting class, I don’t think Iraq was at the heart of why the GOP lost the House and Senate. House was the Foley scandal, and Denny Hasterts peculiar actions related to Jefferson. Senate was lost on the WaPo’s jihad against Allen and mecaca, of all things.

Fact is, the Democrats haven’t done much they can hold up in 08 so far in either body.

Agreed, but neither can President Bush. Americans are pretty much disgusted with both Parties.

I don’t think the Surge has much of a chance. We need many more troops than Bush is committing.

He’s not on the ballot in 08, I don’t think it makes any difference. And as he’s been hellbent on demonstrating, he doesn’t represent the GOP any longer, preferring to lie down and get walked on by Pelosi and Reid, and Kennedy’s his big ‘buddy’ these days again.

“I don’t think the Surge has much of a chance. We need many more troops than Bush is committing.”

We have enough troops in country, what remains to be seen is if the ROE has been changed enough to make eliminating the enemy possible.

We’ll know by Labor Day.

Speaking of Monica..

Carl Bernsteins new book about Hillary, "A Woman In Charge", is going to send shivers thru the Clinton campaign. Maybe we'll hear the truth about how she handled Bill during that time. :)

I will support Fred Thompson for the GOP nomination should he choose to run and the Presidential election if he wins the nomination. However, I fail to see how his demographic strengths would differ much from those of President Bush in the last two elections.

Absolutely. When the score is 54-0 at the two minute warning of the Fourth Quarter, I think it’s time to admit the ‘ol Fat Lady is singing.
