Bush 'surprised' by conservative anger
The Washington Times ^ | June 06, 2007 | Jon Ward & Ralph Z. Hallow

Posted on 06/06/2007 6:38:28 PM PDT by de meanr

"He was surprised by the reaction," Mr. Snow said of Mr. Bush's speech in Glynco, Ga., last week. "The speech in Georgia was, 'We've got a serious problem and we need to fix it.' It was not in any way designed to be pointed at Republicans." But conservative opponents of a Senate immigration bill supported by Mr. Bush reacted furiously to the president's suggestion that they are resorting to scare tactics by using the word "amnesty" in referring to the measure that would allow millions of illegal aliens to remain in the United States.

I had been sitting here, reading, getting madder that I already was, wondering what we could do. All the calls, emails, faxes we’ve sent seem to be wasted. Would it need to be on Washington? Would marches on all the state capitals have any effect?

We’re retired, in a wheelchair and on a cane, but want to do something to stop this.

I agree. We (I) have to do something or I am going to lose my mind. If this POS passes, I have to know that I did everything in my power to stop it. I may be asked by my grandkids one day why I let this happen. There has to be a way to make the ‘intellectual’ Government see the light, obviously we can’t shame them into making the right choices.....

Well .. the prescription med deal is doing just fine - thank you! So the only issue I have with the Pres is all the illegals.

But .. remember, he grew up near Houston, and had to deal with a lot of people from Mexico. I suspect that’s his real agenda. He had contact with a lot of real hard working people who just wanted a good job and a good place to live for their family. Bush knows that kind of life exists in America - and why wouldn’t he want that for them.

The problem .. we have allowed the borders to go unchecked for 20 years. Now we have a real mess on our hands and it will take some strong leadership to fix it. I think Bush is just the guy to do it .. if he will just realize the American people want him to protect them first before he tries to deal with who is already in the country illegally.

Now that he’s noticed our concern .. perhaps we will see a change in his push for amnesty for 20 million people here illegally. There’s no guarantee .. but there’s a better chance today than what we had yesterday.

Alright! I am from NC, but I happen to be in the DC area this week. However, would have to be a big crowd with me, cause if you are familiar with DC, I wouldn’t go in there in the middle of the day by myself. This really is a filthy, scary, crime infested city.....

” There are republicans and there are conservatives. It’s nice when the two are the same, but there are no guarantees. “

Exactly right! There aren’t enough Republicans to win elections. When they anger conservatives they’re playing with fire.

He was never truly Texan or he wouldn’t be acting this way. I hate to say it, but I now agree with Natalie Maines that I’m ashamed that he’s from here. I never thought it would turn out like this - I really expected better. (Although Mr. Claret always had misgivings about him, and I defended him. I’m sorry now!)

We stop paying taxes. Change your W4 to exempt. If they can’t enforce the rules on the illegals, how are they going to enforce the legals?

I suspect we agree on most aspects of immigration reform... but, I completely disagree with you about the concept of sending them all back. You obviously have not spent much time in Texas or California. If you send them ALL BACK, the economies in certain areas will, all but, collapse...as 40-50% of the population dissappears

For me... I want to KNOW who is here. I don’t care if they are/were illegal, have been here 10 years and have jobs... I want to know WHO they are. For those here, give them a “legal” status... that is NOT citizenship. Let them join the queue for citizenship....if they keep a job, learn the language, and pass a U.S. history test..... in the same time as people NOT here.

But FIRST, we must stop the flow of new illegal immigrants. To do this, we MUST do a few, relatively simple things:

1) Establish a national verification of citizenship or legal working status that a business (or landlord) can use to verify status.

2) CRACK DOWN on businesses who hire illegals not verified by the system in #1, and

3) Build the freaking fence in areas where agents can’t patrol on a constant basis.

Do these things... and, I become very lenient with the folks still here.

Is President George W. Bush was surprised by this, then he is out of touch with reality.

I'm not for giving them in-state tuition when my kiddos have to pay out of state.

Now there is where you are wrong.

Jorge plans on giving them pell grants and free housing, so you pay for your kids and the illegals.

Stinks doesn't it.

He thinks like Juan Williams does, “Who gonna cut the grass and do all of this laundry?”

Gee, I was thinking that with the decline and fall of the dinosaur Media, we could get former journalists to do it.

"Hey, Juan, make sure you edge the lawn after you cut it!"

God bless you, momf. I’m not sure what more can be done. I’ve been writing and calling. We can pray that the Senate Republicans filibuster the cloture vote, or that the House kills it by either failing to take it up or by blue-slipping it.

You got a great perspective.

Have a look at Fred Thompson.

Fred goes to the People and not Congress.

George goes to Congress and not the People.

You’re right! These people don’t want to assimilate. They don’t want to learn our language (they have a language of their own and they like it..they speak it with their mothers, children, aunts, etc) and besides, why learn our language when we translate everything for them (signs, product packaging, etc). They want the money they can earn and send back to Mexico (earned under the table), while we provide WIC, welfare, housing, education, medical, etc. free of charge. (It’s really easy when you use the hospital emergency room as your primary care provider). Why would they want to be an American, after all, obviously we have gotta be the absolutely stupidest people ever put on God’s green earth if we allow this to happen......

I don’t think he’s surprised. He knows where conservatives stand. What he’s surprised at is there is so much resistance that they may not be able to force the crap down our throats like they planned.

Here are the words from Bush Sr.'s own lips:

"We have before us the opportunity to forge for ourselves and our future generations a New World Order. A world where the rule of law, not the law of the jungle governs the conduct of nations.

When we are successful, and we will be, we have a real chance at this New World Order in which a credible United Nations can use it's peacekeeping roll to fulfill the promise of the United Nations vision of the U.N.'s founders."

{unquote}

That's from the first clip on this video. Remember, the un's charter was written by Alger Hess.

Here's all of it on youtube. Listen to what Gary Hart has to say at the end of the second clip to push the New World Order.

Thanks - we can use the computer, phones, and mail. I’ve even mailed a post card (my PC campaign!) to W with two cents glued on, saying “WHERE’S THE FENCE”. I figured the mail would not be opened soon, and a post card would be seen by lots of people on the way there.

I can help anyone get it organized, etc.

Declare that from now on in your life, the will be no taxation without representation. Increase your deductions so no extra money is being fed to these clowns and let them know that there will be no more taxes coming their way until they show some fiscal responsibility and stop giving away our money to whoever they want to whenever they want to.

We have the money. Without a lot of extra tax dollars to spend, amnesty would not be thinkable. If 20 to 40 million illegals can get a tax break then so should the citizens. A big one. One big enough to scare them into reasonable action, such as closing the border.

I think its going to come down to Americans building the fence ourselves or going to war with Mexico. We are supplementing over 40% of their income anyway, might atleast get something in return, like say oh, OIL REFINERIES and could cut off the Saudis. Seems to me this might be a wiser foreign policy anyway.
