Senate Amnesty Could Strain Welfare System

Newest Data Shows Latin American Immigrants Make Heavy Use of Welfare

WASHINGTON (June 6, 2007) — As they debate legalization for illegal immigrants, Senators would do well to keep in mind the most recent data on welfare use by the people in question. According to the Department of Homeland Security, nearly 60% of illegal aliens are from Mexico and 80% of the total are from Latin America as a whole. A Center for Immigration Studies analysis of 2006 Census Bureau data, which includes legal and illegal immigrants, shows use of welfare by households headed by Mexican and Latin American immigrants is more than double that of native households. Among the findings:

51% of all Mexican immigrant households use at least one major welfare program and 28% use more than one program. – 40% use food assistance, 35% use Medicaid, 6% use cash assistance.

45% of all Latin American immigrant households use at least one welfare program and 24% use more than one program. – 32% use food assistance, 31% use Medicaid, 6% use cash assistance.

20% of native households use at least one welfare program and 11% multiple programs. – 11% use food assistance, 15% use Medicaid, 5% use cash assistance.

Among Mexican and Latin American households, welfare use is somewhat higher for households headed by legal, as opposed to illegal, immigrants. Thus legalization will likely increase welfare costs still further. (snip)

The pols have become a more immediate problem than the illegals. This is our country and we should defend it.

It won’t strain it a bit - they are going to raise our taxes by $800.00 a year to cover it.

Could strain welfare? Sheesh! What are these people drinking, anyway? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out and not only that, it would BANKRUPT social security!

1-800-417-7666. (English number) will direct you right to your Senators . . . please tell them you oppose this bill.

People should be more upset that than they are (it was barely on the news last night) that they killed an amendment to the amnesty bill that would have barred giving legal residence to felons. In other words, 600,000 felons who are currently illegal and could be deported will be given the right to remain in the country legally. They did pass Kennedy’s amendment that will bar sexual offenders from residence . . . which he put in to kill the stricter amendment barring all felons . . . but the Senate then voted to allow murderers, armed robbers, credit card fraudsters (which is how a lot of the Muslim terrorists fund themselves), and all other felons to be given the Z visa and stay. Here in Florida, where I live, we will probably get over 10% of them . . . over 60,000 new criminals to legally walk our streets with full rights when they get out of jail. It’s horrible to think about but they will be walking the same streets as my daughter.

If we have to be “fair” to the person who broke our laws and is currently living in Indiana, why should we also not be “fair” to the person who abides by our laws and is currently living in Guatemala?

If all anybody needs to do to get themselves on the distribution line for all our government-provided goodies is break one of our laws, we should just start providing welfare payments and Social Security enrollment to anybody anywhere in the world. It wouldn’t be fair not to.

That’s the general idea isn’t it?

Better save up for retirement now..it’s about to get worse.
Fred Thompson already said it’s the first thing he will do when (not if but when) he gets into office is to dismantle SS and MCR. (he is heir apparent after all)

Currents seniors to bad so sad. Hope your relatives can care for you cause SS is bankrupt..

The party for the “poor” (socialist dems)who CLAIMED that they would place SS in a “lockbox” are LIARS!! They are the ones who are welcoming all the illegals with their new motto which is:

“Give us your felons, murderers, drug pushers, convicts and dregs of society” we welcome them , we have welfare, social security and socialized medecine waiting right here for you
we have schools and maternity wards just waiting for all those welfare babies, come on in, we won’t build no stickin fence.
