This article was posted on my company intranet news site. I work for a large telco company and I have removed the company name just as a CYA as I'm not sure if I am allowed to publicly disseminate this info. Anyway, I just feel so warm and fuzzy all over knowing I work for such a diverse-centric corporation!!
For XXXXXX associates who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (GLBT), the month of June marks Pride celebrations in their local communities across the country and also at XXXXX as part of the companys efforts to create an inclusive and diverse workplace.
This month, XXXXX Pride, XXXXXX's GLBT Employee Resource Group, is sponsoring a series of events open to all employees to build on the groups objectives of employee development, support for the companys business priorities, community service and improving workplace culture.
GLBT Pride celebrations mark the June 1969 uprising at the Stonewall Inn in New York Citys Greenwich Village neighborhood, an event which was generally credited with triggering a movement that has led to greater acceptance and understanding of gay people within their families, communities and workplaces.
On June 12 at 12:30 p.m. Eastern time/11:30 a.m. Central time, XXXXX Pride will sponsor an all-employee webcast on Building an Inclusive Workplace related to issues of sexual orientation in support of the companys diversity initiatives. See details on how to attend.
The following week, on June 21, the group will sponsor Pride in Music, an all-employee concert event in the Winter Garden at the Overland Park campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern time/10 a.m. to noon Central time. The event will focus on XXXXXs music leadership and will include live performances by members of the Heartland Mens Chorus and cabaret performers, free tickets to the Overland Park movie premiere of Hairspray and demonstrations of XXXXX music phones, accessories and services.
A community service project for the June 23 United Way Day of Caring comes next, followed by member networking events on June 28. More information is available on the XXXXXX Pride Web site, by typing Inclusion into the browser
These events all help us create a more inclusive and diverse workplace, which studies show directly contributes to a companys successful performance, said XXXXXX, vice president-Communications, who is the XXXXX Pride Executive Sponsor. They also help us bring our products and services to a very significant marketplace.
According to research by Witeck-Combs Communications, the buying power of the GLBT market segment is $660 billion. A Harris Interactive poll reported that gay customers are more loyal to their wireless phone providers, with only 30 percent likely to switch providers based on price, versus 41 percent for their non-gay counterparts.
Some corporations are truly sickening. I used to work for one such. Never again.
It is politically correct to say "gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or questioning."
We wouldn't want to leave out this critical segment of the Pride community.
More liberal propaganda. Gays are notoriously promiscuous. I see them passing their phone providers around and abusing all their buttons.
What have they got to be PROUD about? < /rhetorical question >
I would assume AT&T, since they’re at the forefront of this sort of thing. No need to confirm.
They’re proud because they have reduced the meaning of life to a glandular secretion.
Let's play GLBT Mad Libs and find out!
They're proud that they like to [verb] their [anatomical reference] in someone's [anatomical reference].
See how wholesome and wonderful it all is?
“Some corporations are truly sickening.”
I agree, there is absolutely nothing they won’t do for more money. Almost as bad as politicians!;)
Anyone know someone that may be looking for a Cisco Network engineer? This company is more concerned about being “diverse” than turning a profit....ugghhhh....
GLBT... isn’t that some kinda sandwich?
GiBLeTs...Isn’t that poultry intestines?
Okay, I just got Diet Coke in my nose - thanks a lot!
Do whatever you want in your bedroom.
Stick whatever organ you want anywhere you want, but do it in private, with consenting adults, not to kids or animals, and stop telling me you need special “rights” because of what you do or what “special” class you belong to.
We have a very special “diversity” program at my company.
We hire the most skilled person for every position; the person who will do the best job.
Know it’s a strange concept these days, but it works!
Sad, but I can’t blame them for the last paragraph. Gays are a big market and there’s money to be made by going after it.
Just before we all became "enlightened."
God, I sure do miss those days...
why don’t they include adult incest partners, polygamists and little girl admirers and dog lovers who would, if they could figure out a way around the consent issue?
