The career tracks of Drs. Jeffrey Duckham and James Taylor and the reactions they've faced from advocates of socialized medicine say a lot about the future of health care in the United States.

Concierge plan spreading in S Florida among docs and dentists, though I had not heard it called that. Meanwhile my doc has cancelled his association with Humana Medicare HMO. No wonder, they only paid him $15 to see me.

Government healthcare will be as efficient as government schools.

The democrat party has maliciously, utterly and irreversibly destroyed Medicare, whose fees drop each year, while the John Edwards’ crooked shysters raise costs of practice toward the stratosphere.

It will all be okay right after the liberals nationalize the health care system in this country. I just wonder where Canadians will go when their system doesn't work.

Oh, wait! I know! Cuba, to stand in line behind Michael Moore to see a doctor.

This is cheaper than my regular insurance. I pay about $100 out of pocket with an empoyer subsidy. If I had my choice, I’d have this plus a catestrophic for emergencies or serious medical problems. I had outpatient surgery recently, and I got the itemization of the costs. If I had all of the money I contributed to my health plan over the last seven years in an account earning 2% interest, plus this plan, I’d still have plenty of money left over.

I also think if there were more doctors that operated this way, I could probably shop areound get a rate in the $90/month range and still get a decent doctor.

Liberals cannot abide the notion of freedom... the idea you can shop for your doctor, decide what services you need and pay for them at the time they are delivered, is anathema for them. What they want is control. That's the true reason they back government-run health care.

The Hillary Care bill would have made such arrangements a crime.

I could see a lot of clinics setting up in the Caribbean or other relatively freer zones. Have your vacation and a hip replacement too!

Excellent editorial.

Today, virtually every Democratic presidential candidate currently in the race has a plan to eventually impose a single-payer, universal health plan. It's no exaggeration to suggest that such a system will go to great lengths to prevent citizens from having the option of receiving medical attention outside the control of some top-down bureaucracy.

the only thing I would change is: "Today, virtually every Democrat-Socialist presidential candidate currently in the race...."

time to bring transparency and openness to Congress just as Pelosi has said.

I can go to LP field today and see country music singers for $14.00; why are you charging more?
