Excellent article. Ike was too liberal to suite my taste, but he got it right on this issue. And the “culture of corruption” issue associated with illegal immigrants is once again in full swing.

Yahoo! Thanks for posting this!

To every RINO and Hate-America-First bleeding heart liberal; read this and tell me we cannot deal with illegals.

Sixty years ago we had the guts to enforce immigration laws. It is time to do it again.

If we don't our flag will be burned on every street corner in America. Not just at the amnesty immigration rallies.

I've sent this link to every Senator and Congressman in my home state, and have received no response. Even the RNC is immune to facts. It is time to make them listen.

Thank you sourcery for posting this.

And I hope everyone who reads it will take ten minutes to send it to their representatives.

Rush and Sean should hear from thousands of us too.

Then on June 17, 1954, what was called "Operation Wetback" began. Because political resistance was lower in California and Arizona, the roundup of aliens began there. Some 750 agents swept northward through agricultural areas with a goal of 1,000 apprehensions a day. By the end of July, over 50,000 aliens were caught in the two states. Another 488,000, fearing arrest, had fled the country.

By mid-July, the crackdown extended northward into Utah, Nevada, and Idaho, and eastward to Texas.

By September, 80,000 had been taken into custody in Texas, and an estimated 500,000 to 700,000 illegals had left the Lone Star State voluntarily.

Finally, this has been posted in front of fellow FReepers. It’s a great day. I hope we run with it and force facts down the throats of the lilly-limp-wristed, spineless toads in Washington and hold them accountable for immigration law enforcement.

From the article:

"Then on June 17, 1954, what was called "Operation Wetback" began. Because political resistance was lower in California and Arizona, the roundup of aliens began there. Today, politicians are telling us we can't enforce our laws. We can't deport these people. We have to let them "assimilate." Hell, they don't want to. They burn our flag, flip us the bird, and tell us to F-off in Spanish.

In 1954, Ike appointed retired Gen. Joseph "Jumpin' Joe" Swing, a former West Point classmate and veteran of the 101st Airborne, as the new INS commissioner.

Gotta love that guy's name: Joseph Jumpin Joe Swing!!

Sorry fellows, I posted something similar on a similar thread 2 days ago but I just can't resist:

Where have you gone, General Jumpin Joe,

Our nation turns it's lonely eyes to you.

What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson.

Jumping Joe has left and gone away,

Hey hey hey.

Hey hey hey

Love the idea of putting them on ships and sailing them 500 miles south, so they just can’t turn around and jump the border again.

Ike had real stones as he also proved in WW II. Would that a man of his character was in the White House today.

The New York Times, highlighting one paragraph that said: "The rise in illegal border-crossing by Mexican 'wetbacks' to a current rate of more than 1,000,000 cases a year...

It really was a different world with The NYT writing stuff like this.

One more reason to say, “I like Ike!

Somehow, I don’t see things working out the same even if a president were to try to remove the majority of criminal aliens in the country. Operation Wetback was before the age of the assault lawyer, La Raza, a leftest federal judiciary, a completely anti-american media establishment, and a generally brain washed American public.
