So hell HAS frozen over and pigs DO fly?
...as are larger and larger portions of the Constitution.
I suppose I shouldn't get very worked up over Congress ignoring one little piece of election-time pandering, should I?
I not going to let your stupid question just go by. This is an example of the GOP doing something they won’t get finished (because the DEMS will block anything they try) just to say they tried. I am tried of their silly games. They need to work when they are in power.
Exactly!!
*yawn*
PING for the new Republican party - they have their cohones again! Good!
“Not true. When Bush won the White House the Congress did his bidding which was mucho spending. Now they are doing the peoples bidding as it should be. This is a great start and believe because of the immigration bill outrage and our new minority status that the House realized it needed a change. Good for them. We can still change our party from the inside out.”
ABSOLUTELY.
The folks whining about the past have it all wrong on many levels.
First, that was the Bush+DeLay+Hastert era in the House from 2001-2006.
Now its the Pelosi-led House doing this. Democrats as usual are worse.
Boehner is none of the above, he was not in the leadership until 2006, having been frozen out by DeLay for 10 years.
Second, this is the House Republicans “returning to their roots”. The House Republicans are smaller now, but are more conservative and are showing that they took the lesson of the 2006 election to heart. They went astray, they paid the price ... now they are trying a shot at redemption. I say ENCOURAGE IT, because it is our only hope to save America from the malefactions of liberal Democrat kleptomania.
I mean, do you *want* the Democrats to get away with corruption, wasteful spending and tax hikes without anyone piping up about it? I should hope not!
It’s time to get back to conservative roots, and fight back. Boehner’s off to a good start.
Well said by the both of you, I couldn't agree more.
The risk of accidently succeeding then was too high. It's much safer now... get the good press for "trying" but not actually getting it done.
for later
How about also declaring war on all of the “Shamnesty” legislation “coming to a city or town near you” very soon?
1. They should have done this 7 years ago.
2. Better late than never
“This is a guy that helped take earmarks to a new level now suddenly gets religion when he is out of power.”
No $#!#. If the person talking weren’t John Boehner this might carry a little weight. Where was he when the GOP was running things? Oh, that’s right. Belly up to the trough.
I hope they are successful...BUT I’m reminded of the old song by “The Who”
“Won’t Get Fooled Again”
Meet the new boss,
Same as the old boss.

Tumbling Democrats
John Hinderaker
“Ethically challenged” doesn’t really do the Democrats justice. Picture a gang of drunken sailors who have broken into the ship’s rum supply, and you’re near the mark. Today, House Minority Leader John Boehner has a column at Townhall on the latest outrage. Read it all for the details, but the essence is that the Dems have figured out a way to foil the earmark transparency reforms the Republicans enacted when they were in control of the House. The Dems’ scheme is to establish a slush fund that will allow them to “air drop” pork projects into legislation at the conference committee stage, when it’s too late for them to be identified publicly. You have to hand it to the Democrats: when it comes to creative corruption, Enron had nothing on them.
I think the voters are starting to notice. Scott Rasmussen’s latest survey has Harry Reid in a dead heat with Scooter Libby, each with a 19% approval rating. And Reid hasn’t even been convicted of anything yet! Rasmussen attributes Reid’s dismal standing to his visibility on the immigration bill, and that no doubt played a part. I suspect, though, that word of the Democrats’ corruption is starting to leak out.
UPDATE: One more thing—given that President Bush’s approval rating is approximately double Harry Reid’s, how soon do you think the media will start referring to Reid’s “unpopularity” and his low approval ratings every time he’s mentioned in a story?
Yeah, that’s what I think, too.
