First of all please please show that this is the only such sentence.

Hopefully someone can correct me if I'm misremembering. IIRC, per an earlier article, this person was the first person prosecuted for oral sex under the statute that imposed a 10-year sentence, and the last person to be prosecuted before the penalty was reduced for people who were close in age.

save your breath Eagle...many freepers believe there is no such thing as rape except if the girl is killed, and even then, it might have been the clothes she was wearing.....

IIRC, this man ran into lots of trouble in school, lots of innuendo, and he basically had his way about everything...

but you be happy freepers, another priviledged athlete let go to do more harm....

I agree with and disagree with this post.

I disagree that oral sex is wrong. I like it (married). I was a well raised child. My husband and I don’t always conclude sex with the sperm/vagina thing. That’s our business and we’re married so it’s fine with me. Pleasure from giving and not receiving is still pleasurable no matter who is in which position.

I think oral sex is sex. I don’t think teens just having oral sex is a better option than intercourse. It’s still premarital sex, which is wrong. Promiscuity, especially among females, tends to diminish - their hearts and souls, and intimacy. Some teens think (some are) in love and show that love with making love. It was never easy for me to stop things from going too far, I did but it wasn’t easy.

I don’t mean to downplay boys or men, I’m sure casual sex diminishes their hearts and souls too. I met my husband in college and I use to call him a slut joking around. He’s a father of daughters now and his opinions have changed drastically when it comes to his kids.

He and I had a discussion the other night about how women don’t understand men (men don’t think platonically with female friends like women do with male friends, etc.). It’s been an ongoing discussion as long as we’ve known each other. I have male friends who I’ve known longer than I’ve known him. They’re still my friends. I never felt any attraction to them so as far as I’m concerned we’re friends. I also know there’s a good chance one or two could possibly be interested in me as more than a friend if I gave the go ahead, but after 20 years, it ain’t happening plus, it shouldn’t be about them it should be about me. He thinks like a man, which is a good thing, and I think like a woman, which is a good thing.

As for teens and sex, all those hormones (once puberty hits, and with 3 of my girls so far it hit when they were in 5th grade)it’s a difficult time for them. I can’t imagine what it’s like for boys. Add a boy and girl who think they’re in love, it can get even more difficult.

he plea bargained the more serious rape charge away for a guilty plea on the statutory charge. The judge came down so hard on him because he should have done 15 to 20 years, not the charge he copped to

He was acquitted by a jury after he pled not guilty to the charge of raping the 17 year old.

He was convicted by the jury after he pled not guilty to the charge of aggravated child molestation against the 15-year-old.

You have a whacked out understanding of the term "plea bargian"

I think there was a scene in "When Harry Met Sally" where Billy Crystal sums up the entire male and females being just friends.

Harry Burns: You realize of course that we could never be friends.
Sally Albright: Why not?
Harry Burns: What I'm saying is - and this is not a come-on in any way, shape or form - is that men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way.
Sally Albright: That's not true. I have a number of men friends and there is no sex involved.
Harry Burns: No you don't.
Sally Albright: Yes I do.
Harry Burns: No you don't.
Sally Albright: Yes I do.
Harry Burns: You only think you do.
Sally Albright: You say I'm having sex with these men without my knowledge?
Harry Burns: No, what I'm saying is they all WANT to have sex with you.
Sally Albright: They do not.
Harry Burns: Do too.
Sally Albright: They do not.
Harry Burns: Do too.
Sally Albright: How do you know?
Harry Burns: Because no man can be friends with a woman that he finds attractive. He always wants to have sex with her.
Sally Albright: So, you're saying that a man can be friends with a woman he finds unattractive?
Harry Burns: No. You pretty much want to nail 'em too.
Sally Albright: What if THEY don't want to have sex with YOU?
Harry Burns: Doesn't matter because the sex thing is already out there so the friendship is ultimately doomed and that is the end of the story.
Sally Albright: Well, I guess we're not going to be friends then.
Harry Burns: I guess not.
Sally Albright: That's too bad. You were the only person I knew in New York.

Good. This case was nothing more that people worshiping the law, regardless of what it says. Putting a 17 year old honor student in prison for 10 years for oral sex is stupid.

I agree. I remember seeing the story on this young man and the case when he was first sentenced to prison. He never should have gone to prison.

Look, the kid pled on the statutory rape thing. They had him cold, but because they were going after him on the non-consensual rape (with the older girl), they saved the cost of a trial with a plea to a lesser crime.

When you lie you make Baby Jesus cry.

There was no plea. And he was tried on both charges. No cost of a trial saved.

I thought they were, but then posters here said they were white. and if you think i was the first to bring up race, merely because i used the word “black” then you’d better read more carefully. Because that is totally inaccurate.

I really and truly don't want to get into a detailed discussion of what married people can do in bed (private is private.) But since the discussion is already "out there," I think there should be some acknowledgement of the fact that some things are indecent even for the married.

These are considerations not meant to constrict pleasure, but to expand a lovely lasting love; one that doesn't end up with one party or the other feeling that they've been used. Married love has such a tremendous capacity for expanding the heart; but disgraceful (dis-graceful) actions also hurt the heart.

For instance, pornography, prostitution (that is, doing sexual things for a money payoff, even with your own spouse), sadism/masochism, etc. Even with consent, those things do not reflect the pure intimacy and joy we were made for.

Without further details (which would be repugnant to many readers) do we agree on that much?

Depends on whose news story you use doesn't it. Still, none of this kid's backers have come up with anythng to prove that he didn't do it.

Since, of course, he did.

Not someone you'd want hanging around the house Fur Shur.

This reference to "decency" is totally bizarre. The guy was involved in group sex ~ an orgy ~ with two underage young women who'd been provided drugs and alcohol thereby rendering them incapable of giving consent (something the law said the 15 year old couldn't give anyway).

I think the problem here is that the prosecutor simply failed to charge these thugs with everything. Maybe he got carried away with the pleas made by the 4 other thugs and forgot to tag this 5th guy "out" when he decided he wanted a trial.

The case is not really about oral sex ~ it's about serial rape and whether or not this society thinks that's a bad thing.

Him and a million other teens. Should we lock ‘em up too? What else should land folks in prison? How many millions more who pose no threat to the general community do we need to use tax dollars to lock up to satisfy the morals police and the Mike Nifongs of this world?

Exaggerate much?

“No, but it was very plain that after we married we’d be having marital relations. Goodness, my mother-in-law gave us our first big, beautiful bed! “

But you still wouldn’t have sex in front of your parents.

My parents are plainly aware that my fiancee and I have sex, and are also aware that we are not yet married. In fact, my grandmother just purchased our bed.

I still wouldn’t want my parents or my grandparents to see me having sex with my fiancee, or hear it, or think about it! And I am not ashamed of it in any way.

The cultural leaders of the Baby Boom sought to tear down the institutions of marriage with “free love”.

If people are getting married 15 years later and then needing fertility treatments to bear children in their later 30s and 40s, blame those who altered the culture.

Pre-marital sex may become commonplace in that sort of society but the anti-abstinence movement doesn’t see any reason to hold virginity through high school as any kind of virtue. Trade sex partners as you would Myspace friends. “Find out what you like”.

Hormones aren’t raging any harder in the human world.

And if we are going to count “close” as an excuse for breaking the law, should this teacher walk?Teacher Arrested for Sex With Student

a 29-year-old teacher Tuesday who was allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old New Cuyama High School student...

[ snip ]

School administrators became suspicious of an inappropriate relationship over the past several months after frequent visits to her classroom by male students, finding photos of the victim in Camp’s desk, and greeting cards from the victim “expressing his love for her,” according to Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Erik Raney. After investigating, and recovering emails between Camp and the teenager “alluding to a consensual sexual relationship between them,” according to Raney, detectives obtained a warrant and arrested Camp at Valarie House.

It isn’t always about “love”. hooking up with someone popular makes your own popularity rise in high school. Kids are very cliquish and there are some who sleep their way up the social ladder. Just like in “real life”.

I agree; it is an embarrassment to Georgia. It makes us look like a bunch of racists. Hey Georgians call the capitol and tell them to make Thurburd (not sure how to spell name) to back down. This is ridiculous.

You are absolutely correct. It is ridiculous to put a boy away for consensual sex with a girl about two years younger.
