A New York Times/CBS poll taken May 18-23 found that 69% of Americans believe that illegal immigrants should be prosecuted and deported; 82% of those surveyed said the federal government should be working harder to “”keep illegal immigrants from crossing into this country.” And according to a Rasmussen poll, by a two-to-one margin (60% to 28%), Americans set a higher priority on gaining control of the nation’s borders than regularizing the status of illegal immigrants, while 75% opined that it’s very important for the United States to “improve border enforcement and end illegal immigration.”
The problem is, for most of these people, this issue is not (at least not yet) the main issue that drives their voting. If it was, we would have had a fence/wall a long, long time ago.

I love this part: "What’s more, it’s been reported that Senator Ted Kennedy admitted that special interest group La Raza was offered a veto over the bill’s provisions – before many other senators even had seen them."

A racists, communist, and intolerant group of radicals gets preferrential treatment and the US citizens are screwed. Yet more proof that Ted Kennedy is a TRAITOR!

“real immigration reform can be achieved – but it will have to reflect the wishes and convictions of the American people, rather than focusing on the priorities, prerogatives and preoccupations of a small circle of the Beltway elite.”

The core of the issue very well stated.

First, the NYT is completely w/o credibility.

However. US needs LAW ABIDING citizens, not lawbreakers and revolutioonaries. Quotas for Mexicans. Catch and release DEEP into Mexican territory.

“President Bush and the senators who supported this failed effort would be well-advised to heed the opinion of the people who have elected them.”

“Bums Rush” def.: The act of a bar bouncer, security guard, or some authority figure forcibly removing a person (the “bum”) from a location by twisting said person’s arm behind his back and pushing the forearm skyward while rapidly pushing (rushing) the body toward an exit.

You would think that our government would be giving illegal aliens the bums rush, not its citizens.

Note to McCain and others like him I am no racist. I simply look at this issue as one of crime and rewarding of criminals, thus I oppose amnesty as it rewards lawbreakers.

My beloved step-dad was a first generation American of Italian decent. His dad when he came to America told his family they were Americans now and to learn English and be loyal America.

The new calling plan, “Call All”

It is time to call beyond the published phone numbers. Example; 202-224-3121 is the published number for the Senate Switchboard. If you dial 202-224-2887 you get the Senate Commerce Committee answer line. 202-224-3445 end up with the Senate Building Health Unit The idea is to work through the last four digits in sequence who answers give them the message. Some of you geeks, I say that with admiration; can probably develop a list of all the combinations which will keep us busy from the calling end. Are you with me?
