Perhaps. I give directly to a candidate..not the RNC. Thanks to the Internet, the candidates can no longer hide their voting records.

I will never again give anything other than peso notes to the RNC. They truly have become the party of the “New America” and I like the old America just fine.

Um, have you actually read the amnesty bill? Looks pretty elaborate to me.

Wasn't written by politicians, was written by special interest groups and ted and Mcrain and the other teds boys, put their names on it. I'd bet if you could give them a test on the contents they would be wrong over half of the time.

This is my point. They figured nobody was going to give to the RNC anyway, so they might as well at least generate donations to individual candidates, if nothing else.

I imagine I’m wrong, for all the reasons everyone here has offered - especially the one about the Republican pols being not all that smart. Still, it made me wonder, since I keep hearing how much $ this issue is generating for some.

I just don’t trust any of them. They say what they think will get them elected and look on their conservative base as useful idiots.

Question: "Could it be the immigration standoff was planned to increase donations?"

Response: No. I think the degenerates were suprised and a little frightened by the public reaction.

Comment: Closer ever closer comes the Social War.

Make the national RNC look bad so that upset conservatives will donate to individual republicans to ‘show them’.

I’m still not thinking that was their strategy. Not convinced.

That would ascribe some form of thought or intelligence, which at this point cannot accepet as present.

Couldn’t help but think of Bush while watching Dr. Strangelove. Perhaps Bush has some agenda of preserving our precious bodily fluids in mind.

The state Republican party has been aggressively soliciting me for money though phone calls and mailings. This is a recent phenomenon, as they used to NEVER call me.

I have yet to work up the nerve to tell off the poor schmuck on the other end of the telephone to take a flying leap. Now that I learn that Coleman might get on board with that immigration nonsense, I no longer have time or money for them.

"Still, it made me wonder, since I keep hearing how much $ this issue is generating for some."

I think you should question what you hear. The way this bill made people of all sorts so angry means it's not likely. Unless they are stupid, bad or fringe people, nobody with a brain would mention this issue to raise money in that manner. Tancredo and Hunter are respectable known quantities on this issue for many years. They have plans.

Who do you know that is raising money from this issue?

“Who do you know that is raising money from this issue?”

Those Republicans who are opposing this bill are, in fact, receiving donations from conservatives who are angry about illegal immigration. Several Republicans are letting it be known that they are against the bill and are reaping some reward from that. I’m not against that - we should reward those who are on the right side of an issue. It’s just my complete distrust of politicians that makes me wonder what is going on whenever pols get people spun up about something. It does benefit some.

Karl Rove is pretty sneaky. Stealing elections for W and orchestrating wars and all. I’m not sure if Karl qualifies as a Politicians though.

Sorry, but I can’t agree with your theory. My checkbook has been welded shut for two years, and I see nothing that encourages me. In fact, quite the opposite.

"I’m still not thinking that was their strategy .

I know it's BS. I work with/for a guy that's a PhD in microwave engineering that has a liberal outlook on some things. He teaches courses at CSUN once in a while because he's a professor. And a very good one in this field.

He went way beyond what John Boehner said in the House about the Senate bill being shit. He said the Senate is F-D along with Bush. That's stunning because we don't discuss politics much. We must make systems and abstract ideas for them work. We have many successes. This stuff is offensive because people are being lied to and everybody knows it.

"Several Republicans are letting it be known that they are against the bill and are reaping some reward from that."

I'm sorry if I assumed anything about your intentions. I am a gentleman in disguise. Even if I need to get some brown hair cut off soon:)

Look, nobody trusts the back room deals in D.C. anymore because everybody knows what's going on immediately. Nobody trusts them. There were no committee hearings on this for obvious reasons of exposure.

I want Republicans and Democrats to get all the fundraising traction out of this they can get. Their constituents just need to know where they stand on this issue when they vote. We can all live together with the result. We are a Republic for a reason. That's why this should be an election year issue. Not something sneaked in by people who are not respected.

Given the stands that many Republican senators have been taking on this it’s more likely that they will see PRIVATE donations dry up. As for CORPORATE donations, you may very well be correct. We’re re-entering an interesting period in American history - one that we went through in the 1800s with disposable people and child labor - in which corporate entities act against the interests of our nation and her citizens.
