The article is long, but what made my head explode were the last four paragraphs -- Lott says "Oh, don't worry about all these silly enforcement first amendments, I'll make sure I make the bill meaningless in conference"!!!! And they wonder why we don't trust them! Good people of Mississippi, you have a long and proud history. Surely among you is at least one person who would make a better senator than this perfidious, weasely, backstabbing hack!

Did you link the wrong article? I don’t see that at the source.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said in a reply letter that his department "has always vigorously enforced the law, and will continue to do so," but added that to stop illegal immigration, he needs new tools contained in the bill, particularly for employer verification, to help with enforcement. "always vigorously enforced the law"

More lies coming from known liars.
Now they are more bolden claiming that they never intend to enforce the laws that they make and swear to uphold anyway, all they wish to do is to declare millions of illegals, murders, felons, rapists, forgers, violent criminals, gang bangers, drug runners, etc. LEGAL AMERICANS so they can continue to "do the jobs that ordinary Americans refuse to do....and, oh, yes,.... support their families."
Get that guy out of there!!!!

Trent V.* Lott, the weak-kneed belly crawler’s malevolence toward the citizens of this country, knows no bounds.
The man is scum.

Lott is a Democrat RINO.
The GOP should have evicted him, instead the wussies have him lead them to their death.

If this bill ever makes it to conference the open borders crowd will get everything they want while Americans get the shaft. “Willing worker, willing employer” means massive displacement in every sector of the economy.

I remember Lott during the impeachment cop-out. He talked a great game in the locker room, but folded like a little girl when it came time to take the field.

Trent Lott, probably more then any other Republican was singularly responsible for the failure of Congress to convict Bill Clinton. His words to David Schippers were:
"You're not going to dump this garbage on us."
Lott is a survivor, not a leader.

Lott is a posterboy for why male college cheerleaders should be constitutionally barred from holding public office.
And yes, I know who else was a male college cheerleader.

The Clintons must have passed Lott's gay cheerleader boy pics from his FBI file to the casa blanca.

Lott did a service here even if he’s to stupid to know it. He’s now let the cat out of the bag on the deal to get an amendment on a package of provisions by those opposed to the deal is nothing more than smoke and mirrors designed to get the bill voted into law and have any enforcement and penalties stripped out to get as near to the original bill as posssible. This is bound to piss off some people enough that bringing this sheer idiocy won’t be able to be brought back up again. At least I hope and pray that’s the case.

Apparently his own.

I was once told by a friend of his wife that Mrs. Lott sells higher end ladies ready to wear apparel at house parties around here (wealthy suburb of DC).
That is all I need to know about him.

The longer they are in Washington, the more arrogant and out of touch they get. Time to clean house.

Senate Minority Whip Trent Lott, Mississippi Republican,
said those amendments will simply disappear when the House
and Senate go to conference.
"No big deal -- you pitch those before you get to the Rotunda," he said.

Trent Lott’s return to power is just proof the insider elitists are trying to take the republican party back to minority status.

"I'm really disturbed Trent Lott would say: accept an amendment, he'll pitch it in conference," Mr. Sessions said. "Whose side is he on?" Lott doesn't just serve greed and naked power, he is a pure expression of those things. This creature exemplifies much of what is wrong with our culture.
