I work with taxes all day, look up advanced EIC on the irs.gov site.

I notice you don’t mention any of the other things, like what if they file before you do? They take all you paid in? I cannot for the life of me why you think identity theft is AOK!!

"I work with taxes all day, look up advanced EIC on the irs.gov site."

Again, please post your evidence that this is an ongoing problem. I'm willing to consider it.

"I notice you don’t mention any of the other things, like what if they file before you do?"

There are a million and one what ifs. You seem to be referring to a known problem so please post your evidence so I can look at it.

I agree with your post.

In addition, anyone who retires at age 62 is limited to how much they can earn and still collect benefits. Someone reporting income subject to ss tax under a stolen number will reduce or eliminate benefits to whomever they stole the number from, if that person retired at age 62.

Anyone who thinks this is a little problem that could be corrected by a few phone calls to ss, is nuts and has never dealt with a gov agency.
