Congress will be compelled to pass this comprehensive reform, for the sake of America!

The usual crock of sh!t conveyed for our own good.

Get with the program, take the sh!t, and help save our nation! /s

Me thinks we are smarter than that.

We need to make them work and toil for our approval of this debacle of immigration reform.

Let them die naturally at an old age, out of elected office, while trying.

Off topic but not really...Well, well, interesting theory being circulated to explain the rush to pass amnesty from different blogs on the net today. Federal laws trump local and state. Local and state have have been making laws against illegals and enforcing them. Now those in D.C. are desperate to stop the enforcment from taking place, hence the vampire Bill. I tend to believe there is some truth to this. it would explain their insistence in going against 70-80 percent of the country over this. the People were taking matters into their own hands, by passing our corrupt government, and starting to make a small dent, and that just cannot be allowed to happen.

And if it's true that about 80% of the electorate are fine with the current immigration laws, and just want them enforced, then where is the political impetus for so-called "immigration reform" in the first place?

State legislatures passing tough laws. Can't have that, it might drive taxpayer-subsidized cheap labor away.

State legislatures passing tough laws

Seems to be the consensus....

It ain't gonna work. The Senators and Congressmen sense political suicide now. No other issue heated up their phones like they did last week.

I think they're going to politely listen to Mr. Bush's cheap threats and wait for him to exit stage left.

The best thing that could happen for all of us is the Senate went on a nice long six month vacation. In fact they can take a year off for all I care.

"I think they're going to politely listen to Mr. Bush's cheap threats and wait for him to exit stage left."

We replace tires when they are around 20%. Congress is at replacement level now. Keep President Bush knee deep in tacos for another week and he'll be at replacement level also. At that point the Senate will realize amnesty is political suicide and walk away for their own survival.

Keep it up for 2 weeks so every American citizen's memory is imprinted so they never forget the issue.

Smaller Steps to Immigration Reform

How about "baby steps," to border security and law enforcement, George?

Or...

Just received this via email. Can’t confirm it but I don’t doubt it.

“was just informed that the back-room plan is currently underway
to bring Bush-Kennedy back and get it quickly passed through the
Senate. I call it “amendments for amnesty.”

Here’s what’s happening.

President Bush and the Amnesty Republicans are attempting to
convince about a dozen Republicans to support “cloture” on
Bush-Kennedy in exchange for a commitment that a set list
of amendments will be considered — thus, “amendments for amnesty.”

Also, Bush and the amnesty leaders are strong-arming conservatives
into accepting the “amendments for amnesty” deal or face being
banished into Senate oblivion.

Amnesty Republicans have already submitted their list of amendments
to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Once the “amendments for
amnesty” deal is finalized between Reid and the Republicans,
the bill will be quickly brought back to the floor. The amendments
will be defeated and amnesty passed.

+ + We can stop “Amendments For Amnesty”!

This is the FOURTH TIME our leaders have gone
behind closed doors to work out some secret scheme to get this
bill passed. Despite unprecedented and overwhelming grassroots
opposition, they think they can still pull off their legislative,
slight-of-hand trickery!”

Reid

This week, we will vote on cloture and final passage of a comprehensive bill that will strengthen border security, bring the 12 million undocumented Americans out of the shadows, and keep our economy strong. In the days ahead, we will work to improve the bill to protect and strengthen family ties while improving the structure of the temporary-worker program.
