RALEIGH - Attorneys representing three Duke lacrosse players didn't believe what they had found when a lawyer discovered favorable DNA test results buried in prosecutor Mike Nifong's files.
Testifying today in Nifong's misconduct trial, a lawyer for one of the accused players described how he had locked himself in a conference room for more than 60 hours with a textbook and 1,844 pages of technical documents. The defense team had pried the documents from Nifong and a DNA lab.
Lawyer Bradley Bannon, who is not a DNA expert, found previously undisclosed test results that showed DNA from unknown men had been recovered from Crystal Gail Mangum's body and underwear. Mangum, an exotic dancer, had accused the players of raping her at a team party.
Bannon shared his findings with the other defense lawyers. One by one, they said his findings were interesting but didn't quite believe what he was saying.
"You have to understand we had been in court all summer and fall being told that there wasn't anything that was found," Bannon testified. "We were all bewildered that it hadn't been provided to us before."

Nifong has committed a crime and must go to jail. Unfortunately, because of his leaning to the left, he will benefit from special treatment and get away with a light tap.
IOW instead of being Nifonged, as he should be, he'll get a Berger.
I read another article that NC just passed a bill that will prohibit judges and DA’s from holding office if their license is suspended or revoked. So Mikey has totally screwed the pooch.

Hey, all he tried to do was railroad three college students into prison for 30 years (where they’d never have lasted that long), when he knew they were innocent.
And lie to the judge. And to the court. And to the defense attorneys. And to the press.
And play the race card to help him do it.
Should that be a crime? Should we take away the man’s livelihood just for that? (sarc/off)
I hope Mike goes to jail. I hope he gets a very large sensitive room mate who is NATURALLY very good at playing basketball and your mind can fill in the rest.
