World needs Paris

Thank goodness for Paris Hilton. She may be a vacuous bimbo with the intelligence of an inanimate object, but she knows precisely how Hollywood celebrities are supposed to behave. Get drunk, drive fast, dance long, cry in public, be sluttish and make absolutely no contribution to anyone or anything.

And for all of her witless posing, she does little harm and claims nothing more than what she is. Which is, oddly enough, nothing. No attempt to tell the unwashed how to live, no inflated political statements, no irksome polemics on the international stage.

Which brings us to the glamorous set who have never understood their place. Because they've written a pop song or made a movie they assume that they have not only the right but the duty to instruct the world's elected leaders on any policy that comes into their over-privileged head.

As long, naturally, as it's a left-wing policy. This was made abundantly clear recently by Sir Tom Stoppard, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Shakespeare In Love and one of the finest playwrights in the English language. He said that he kept his conservative politics quiet for fear that such original sin would damage his career.

Serves him right of course. Stoppard is merely considered a genius and a master of his craft. He didn't sing in a band called The Boomtown Rats that was once, very briefly and long ago, relatively well-known. But Bob Geldof did.

Then Bob discovered African poverty and decided to tell the world about it. Including those old twits like the churches who had been working and dying with starving Africans for generations. But Bob has lots of hair and a loud voice and he swears. As such his career in the being nice business has lasted a lot longer than his career as a pop star.

So much so that even now he is insulting the Canadian government and telling us that we're all a bunch of nasties. Which leads one to wonder why he wasn't such a disciplinarian with Peaches. Who is she?

Peaches Geldof. Or to name her in full, Peaches Honeyblossom Michelle Charlotte Angel Vanessa Geldoff. Sister of Fifi and Pixie and half-sister of Tiger. Bob's daughter is a regular in the British tabloids, making abusive gestures, falling out of night clubs in a somewhat jolly state, being stopped by store detectives or taking a sniff from a white paper cone which, she says, was just a cigarette.

Raising daughters can, of course, be a challenge. Which is why Peaches and Fifi and Pixie need dad around. Dad, however, is a very busy man. As is dad's ever so good friend Bono. So busy in fact that he can't find the time to pay taxes in his native Ireland, where public education, public health care and immigration and welfare services for the needy cost a great deal of cash.

So instead his band U2 transferred much of its business empire to the same Dutch finance house used by the Rolling Stones because royalties are almost tax-free in Holland. Contrary to what the song says, old Bono did find what he was looking for.

The cause may be grand, the work may be necessary but spare me the preaching and the hypocrisy. Stand for office if you want change. Better still, raise your kids and pay your taxes. Paris, you're needed.

Hollywood could take a lesson from Paris.

Keep your mouth shut on subjects such as politics, global warming, poverty, and all the other things that the grown ups deal with.

If we need an expert on drugs, booze, deviant sex or crashing cars at high speed while intoxicated, we’ll know where to go.

Otherwise - STFU!

All the really good progressive causes for Hollywood celebs have already been taken. Newbies to the business are confined to spearheading things like “The Whirly Feeling That You Get When You Stand Up Suddenly Foundation.”

I didn’t know Stoppard was a conservative (Brit variety). You learn something new every day.

And it looks like Peaches Geldof is a chip off her late mum’s block.

What to make of this article? I think but am not sure that is writer is a conservative, but in Canada in order to get published it seems one must write in some kind of code.

It took a while before her television show was shown over here.

Nothing like watching a coke-burned out, boney-assed, self-obsessed, dirty little succubus fisting a cow on television while you and the family are eating dinner.

Hilton is the penultimate straw for brains, bubble headed blonde. She can barely put a coherent sentence together if it involves more than about 5 words. I doubt she even spell politics.

The premise of this article is correct. I wish the rest of the morons in hollywood would follow here example and just stfu when it comes to anything of any importance. The only thing that matters for hollywierd types is to be relevant. The overwhelming number of them are not, inspite of all their self absorbed, narcissistic actions.

Hilton is irrelevant. She always has been and she alway will be. I doubt she even knows the meaning of the word or can spell it. And frankly I don’t think she really cares, she’s too busy being a societal parasitic part girl. That’s the way they should all be. Make your shitty movies, live your opulent and narcissistic lifestyles and have a coke and a smile and stfu.

Hey, go easy on Paris, France.

It’s currently under the rule of a conservative named Sarkozy. And by the end of next week, Paris and the rest of France will be under the rule of a conservative national legislature.

There is no one so despicable that they cannot at least serve as bad example.
