"Oh great! Now let’s give them guns and training."

This is too dangerous to contemplate.

Hi P-Marlowe,

I’m not particularly opposed to this provision. Foreigners who are willing to give their lives for this country should be granted citizenship at the end of their service.

I'm with you on this one- Especially for those serving in a combat zone.

If they're willing to die for it, well that's more than enough rubber hitting the road for me.

"If they're willing to serve."

We are talking about people who jump the border, break our laws and don't have any respect for the U.S.. Is that who you would trust with your life?

The point of this thread is we are talking about illegal aliens. The people who march in protests carrying the mexican flag. They steal identies and screw peoples lives up. Do you think they will pick up a weapon and defend this country? Many of them would take up a weapon and come after us if they thought they could get away with it.

Hi Blackbart.223,

I think I'll take exception to that.

The people you are speaking of are opportunists by nature, and are looking for a free ride. They are hardly the type to commit themselves to the US Military hierarchical system, not to mention combat. It doesn't seem to be a system that is easily pumped.

I might add that there is a reason that the military life spawns 80%+ conservative patriots. There is hardly a better form of indoctrination/assimilation (if you would) than the US Military.

Speaking for a moment about combat in particular, if a man rises through that to the level of "brother in arms" having fulfilled his sacred oath of service, I dare say that by that time he'd be one to ride the river with, and would have proved himself as such by extraordinary means. How could he be denied?

Please bear in mind that I am adamantly opposed to Illegal Immigration and the whole idea of amnesty. It is "something-for-nothing".

But one who would give himself in service, and especially so in combat, must strive to complete a most arduous task in order to gain his citizenship. It isn't something-for-nothing, It has a cost. Surely there is a profound difference in that.

You'd be amazed what levels of stupidity the DI's can beat out of your psyche while you are in boot camp.

And no I don't trust the military with my life anymore. I can trust them to stop an invasion, properly used.

My point was people who break our laws and have more regard for Mexico than the U.S. will never take up arms to defend this country. Border jumpers are here to see how much they can exploit at our expense.

Hell man. They wave the Mexican flag at rallys.

What do you have against legal Hispanics. Are you a racist or do you not like any immigrants.

Here is a list of the 12 “fence-sitter” Senate contacts for EVERYONE to email regarding immigration. Many offices are putting calls straight to voicemail and they can just trash faxes (and letters take weeks to get through due to security). Hit Hill staff where they are so codependent - their Blackberries! Send email directly to staff - not just the generic Senate office mailbox. Contact their Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, and Press Secretary. Make your voice heard!!

For the Democrats, I would strongly suggest taking a pro-union/anti-illegal alien stance (i.e. “they are taking our jobs”) rather than using the conservative national security angle.
