The 2007 Amnesty Bill is real, it is not a joke, and it is not a diversion of some kind. For those learning of the above information for the first time, my apologies, as I'm sure it's disheartening. Let's put the "United States" back on our Countries list and keep it there!

The United States is not listed because people in the United States do not request information from the State Department to travel to the United States.

Where's one of the best places to learn about the United States? Let's take a visit to the US Department of State's website and see what we can find.

I wouldn't expect to find much domestic info about the United States at the Department of State's web site. What sort of information were you hoping to learn?

Not sure what your point is. So the state dept website doesn’t present any information about the USA. Ok. So what does that have to do with amnesty?

The State Department is the diplomatic part of government. Countries (or states) usually don’t engage in all that much diplomacy with themselves.

The State Department is responsible for FOREIGN RELATIONS. You might be surprised to learn that we have country desks for every country in the world, but there is none for the United States of America. You can’t be that dense.

Here's a link to the Department of the Interior: http://www.doi.gov/. There isn't a noticeable country list on their homepage.

That could be because they deal with domestic affairs.

P.S. In support of your idea that this links in with amnesty and the weakening of sovereignty, the website does advertise a Spanish version.

If you want to see the U.S. government’s description of the U.S. go to http://www.usa.gov/ . Also, there are lots of govt. sites ALL OVER the internet with a .gov suffix.

For example, if you want to know anything about demographics go to http://www.census.gov/

The State Department is about the govt’s public description of “International Information”, as they are very happy to state.

You are stressing out about the OAS? Good grief man! If this is the first time that you have heard of the OAS then you are in need of an education. Here’s a couple other international organizations that the US is in: AfDB, ANZUS, APEC, Arctic Council, ARF, AsDB, ASEAN (dialogue partner), Australia Group, BIS, BSEC (observer), CBSS (observer), CE (observer), CERN (observer), CP, EAPC, EBRD, FAO, G-5, G-7, G-8, G-10, IADB, IAEA, IBRD, ICAO, ICC, ICRM, IDA, IEA, IFAD, IFC, IFRCS, IHO, ILO, IMF, IMO, Interpol, IOC, IOM, ISO, ITU, ITUC, MIGA, MINUSTAH, NAFTA, NATO, NEA, NSG, OAS, OECD, OPCW, OSCE, Paris Club, PCA, PIF (partner), SAARC (observer), SECI (observer), SPC, UN, UN Security Council, UNCTAD, UNESCO, UNHCR, UNITAR, UNMEE, UNMIL, UNMOVIC, UNOMIG, UNRWA, UNTSO, UPU, WCL, WCO, WHO, WIPO, WMO, WTO, ZC

Unless you're ok with the dissolution of the United States and your Country not even getting a link on the Department of State's web-site,...

I might not be the brightest bulb amongst the group but why would it be necessary to link back to itself from state.gov's page? Wouldn't it be better to see how we are represented from other countries and other entities.

We didn't need to search out the State's webpage to see 12 million (+/-) illegals are trying to dissolve America as we knew it.

This article is retarded. Only someone who knows absolutely nothing about the function of the State Department would go to that website to "learn about the United States". Try a library.

We see many countries listed like Cuba, Venezuela, Columbia and even Mexico, but for some reason the United States is not listed.

Could be because they figure if you are the U.S. Dept. of State's website, you already know about the U.S. They may be figuring wrong, but seems a reasonable assumption to me.

No offense, but......much ado about nothing. The State Department isn’t a “domestic affairs” operation; it is our conduit for diplomatic and other dealings with the rest of the world. I certainly wouldn’t EXPECT to find exhaustive information about the US on their site.

Let's play one more time. Let's start at the Homepage, Click on "Western Hemisphere". Now stop! Look at the second item on the left side, the one that says "U.S. and Organization of American States". Apparently the OAS (Organization of American States) can be spelled out, but not the United States, at least on the United State's Department of State's website anyway. So click on that link and look for the United States link next to the Organizations of American States. Or look below, and here's what we see:

The State Department is the “foreign diplomacy” part of the U.S. Government. Since the U.S.A. is not a foreign entity, but the OAS is, it stands to reason that the State Department would have information about the OAS and not the USA.

Sorry this escapes you. But luckily we will still allow you to vote, so Ron Paul gets a vote in your county!
