Hitlery, if nominated, will set the all time record, never to be broken, for negative turnout. Obama on the other hand is very dangerous because so many jello brained voters fall for his Oprah nicey-nicey crap without understanding that he is a far left, full blown socialist.

Fred keeps going down in my personal poll. Between his little game of keeping people in suspense

That's called WISDOM. Someone who shows WISDOM goes UP in my book. Even Newt said it is stupid to start so early as many have.

It sounds like a job for a man will REAL military experience

Right... just like Jimmy "Peanut Brain" Carter, who had military experience, vs Reagan who had none. A smart chief executive sets the vision and lets the "experts" who serve under him decide on the best way to implement/specifics. It is shear kookiness to think you be be an all-wise/all-knowledgable one leading the world's only hyper power. One reason Carter was such a big failure because he tried to mico-manage.

Don’t try to drape me between those two horns. I do not find that my support of Thompson provides me with any sort of dilemma whatsoever on the subject of illegal immigration.

I happen to agree with 98% of what I clearly understand his position to be and I won’t be manipulated by your out-of-context quotations.

You are clearly attempting to engage in partisan hair splitting and equivocation. Thompson is for enforcing the border and immigration laws already on the books first.

Then he is in favor of creating circumstances through additional enforcement in the interior, and other measures not really specified, to create conditions where many - if not most - of these miscreants will voluntarily repatriate themselves from whence they came.

If they don’t... well that’s where the “60 day amnesty” comes in - and I have never seen anything that would intdicate to me that Thompson would have any issue whatsoever with such a proposal.

So take your “straw men”, your definitional slight-of-hand, and your quoting out of context and head back to the beige room. The interview is over.

Considering the scenario given, I’d consider that Pre-9/11 thinking.

It’s quite possible that Regean’s handling of this scenario given would be no better than his handling of illegal immigration in 1986. And, Fred’s given me every reason, so far, to believe that his immigration policy would be no better.

In my opinion, these things are of too much importance to be dismissed by supporters or not explained in specific detail by a candidate for President.

Nice try.

But as along as your man continues to evade, I will continue to expose.

So what you are saying is that only a person with “real” military experience can lead this nation?

How does pointing out the massive flaw in your logic--that RWR fails your test--show "Pre-9-11 thinking"?

Are you kidding? Tancredo? He’s got no hope. None. Zilch. Nada. Neither does Hunter, really, but Tancredo’s not even worth mentioning.

one in which the focus of attention might switch from the Democratic contest between Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, which has dominated the news media coverage until now.

That won't change. The MSM will only cover the Rep race to smear the Rep candidates. In reality, the Rep race is a real and competitive one. Hillary has the Dem nomination wrapped up despite the MSM's effort to make it seem competitive.

If Big Money, Big Business, Big Chamber of Commerce, Big CAFTA/NAFTA types get behind Fred Thompson, it will only be a matter of time that he adopts, as president, more or less the same George W. Bush approach on illegal aliens (I fear...I could be wrong...but I fear).

The decline of the Democrat party could not be more clearly demonstrated than by its leading candidates.

Hillary Clinton is a dedicated Marxist Socialist and B. Obama is to her left.

So, should Fred Thompson win the GOP nomination, I take it you'll either vote Democratic or sit this election out. Am I right?

If Big Money, Big Business, Big Chamber of Commerce, Big CAFTA/NAFTA types get behind Fred Thompson...

I have seen no evidence that these types are lining up behind anyone other than Rudy McRomney.

The Thompson phenomenon seems to be genuinely grass roots. He hasn't spent much if any money, he hasn't made money raising his first cause, and he hasn't shown any tendency to moderate his speech to favor these types.

Having said all that, only time will ultimately tell. I believe that since setting up his exploratory committee, money has been coming in to the Thompson campaign, but I'd be pretty sure that it is almost exclusively in the $50 to $500 range.

keeping people in suspense

Please look again at:
reluctant combatant getting into the race about the time candidates would if this were a typical election cycle

You are also contradicting yourself when you apply your logic to Hunter and Tancredo:
It is a year and a half until the election.

So it's too late for Thompson, but not too late for Hunter? In repub polls, Hunter usually rates anywhere between an asterisk (*) and 2%. He's got a long way to climb to get to 48-51% of all Americans.

Way to take it out of context.

Full quote:
THOMPSON: Well, that’s true, as a general statement. We woke up one day after years of neglect and apparently discovered that we have somewhere between 12 million and 20 million illegal aliens in this country. So it became an impossible situation to deal with. I mean, there’s really no good solution. So what do you do? You have to start over. Well, I’m concerned about the next 12 million or 20 million. So that’s why enforcement, and enforcement at the border, has to be primary. I think most people feel disillusioned after 1986 when we had this deal offered to them before, and now we’re insisting that, you know, we solve the security problem first, and then we’ll talk about what to do with regard to other things — certainly no amnesty or nothing blanket like that. But figure out some way to make some differentiation between the kind of people that we have here. You know, if you have the right kind of policies, and you’re not encouraging people to come here and encouraging them to stay once they’re here, they’ll go back, many of them, of their own volition, instead of having to, you know, load up moving vans and rounding people up. That’s not going to happen.

The only thing preventing Hunter from winning, are those who choose not to support him.

Isn't that the only thing that keeps ANYBODY from winning ANY election? Wow

Both Hunter and Tancredo have given unwavering, decisive answers. Thompson has been playing hard-to-get. I understand the game. And I am focused on principles that will resonate with passionate voters. A candidacy and electorate focused on fear of losing, not principled leadership, may run in the wrong direction, or fall prey to compromised principles.

Don’t take this personally nor let it be said of you...in any political or business or moral context, to coin a phrase, mere fear would let a lousy leader lead lemmings astray.

It’s not too soon to start getting the word out about the best candidates, dark horses though they may be.

Focus on principles. Spread the word.
