Immigration bill gets 1 last chance
The Chicago Tribune ^ | June 19, 2007 | Karoun Demirjian

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid introduced an updated immigration bill Monday, launching one more attempt to conclude debate on the contentious issue and approve the measure in the Senate before Congress breaks for the 4th of July holiday.

The next two weeks are likely the last chance for passage of an immigration bill in the Senate this year, and this seems to be a critical make-or-break moment for advocates of comprehensive reform.

The bill was pronounced all but dead two weeks ago, when Reid, a Nevada Democrat, pulled it from consideration after several motions to limit debate failed. At the time, several Republicans, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), insisted Reid had rushed a process that likely would have resulted in passage of the bill, had Republicans had more time to offer amendments.

A group of bipartisan senators, the original architects of the measure, spent the bulk of last week deciding on an acceptable list of amendments, whittling a few hundred proposals down to a final 22, split between Republicans and Democrats.

McConnell said on Sunday that the outcome of the bill, which would mandate improvements in border security and employee verification programs and put the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants already in the U.S. on a pathway to citizenship, is too close to call.

Revived as new legislation, the redrafted immigration bill reflects the substance of the 14 Democratic and 13 Republican amendments approved during the first two weeks of Senate debate, including a phaseout of the temporary guest worker program.

The new bill also includes a proposal by Sens. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) to establish a $4.4 billion fund, paid for by fees and fines collected from undocumented immigrants, exclusively for financing border security.

How Eisenhower solved illegal border crossings from Mexico

I Like Ike.

The immigration giveaway

Take the Pledge: "I pledge to never, ever vote for anyone, for any office, who votes in favor of the Mexican Invasion Surrender Bill."

The penalty for being politically tone-deaf is death of one's political career. Amnesty for illegal immigrants--which means any path to any sort of permanent legal residency of any kind (let alone citizenship,) regardless of cost--is worse than the "third rail of politics." It's the Guillotine.

Time is growing short . The days of freedom are coming to an end.

It's up to the conservative blogosphere to save it.

There is no freedom without sacrifice.

The U.S.A is the last hope for freedom and justice in the world .

Here is how they hope to destroy the U.S. and with it freedom:

Liberals and Bush want to turn the U.S.A into a socialist Venezuela or a 3rd world country with the passage of this Amnesty bill:

From the Washington Times: Amnesty Bill permits 193 million more aliens from the 3rd world

This email list has the emails of the top aides to all the Senators in Alphabetic order by Senator.

I just copied each paragraph block of emails and pasted it to my yahoo email "to:" box,

one of those paragraph blocks of emails at a time.

And it worked. If you want to email them all at once and your If your email says too many in the to: field

just cut a few names off. But it will probably be short enough.

You can also email just one top aide for a specific senator

if you want to by copying and pasting the email address. List in alphabetical order by Senator.

Hey numbnuts in congress. If the bill can't pass on it's own weight without amendments and pork then the thing shouldn't be passed at all.

McConnell is a liar. We do not need this amnesty bill that was crafted without our knowledge. Do these scum not realize what they are doing to the American people? How can they sleep at night? How can their families stay with them knowing how they sold the country out. I can see one of their kids or grandkids going to show and tell and at school. What does your daddy or grandaddy do? He sold our country out. He made the lives of millions of Americans miserable. He stole their lives along with the future of their children and grandchildren. He put the lives of Americans in danger.

sort of brings to mind a toilet analogy

instead of fixing the flush valve, a fool jiggles the handle for 30 years, or until the chain breaks

How long is congress going to jiggle the handle on this immigration toilet

How many of “y’ll out there” believe that the bureaucracy; probably around 50,000 “new” unionized (AFGE, AFSCME)clerical type “guvment workers” this legislation will need for compliance will ever collect $4 billion plus? BTW Who said unions are getting smaller? This legislation will make
government workers the largest component of the AFL&CIO !

The best thing the Republican PArty could do is introduce articles of impeachmnet against Bush for failing to enforce existing border laws and vioalting his oath of office - high crimes and misdemeanors by ANY standard.

THAT would give them the lection in 2008,

No Republican Presidential candidate except McInsane is supporting him on illegals.

And the Dmes would NEVER go along with it - it would put the far more oppositional and effective Cheney in the White House. So they would be defending the unpopular President who become THEIR handicap in 2008.

Our future "Amnesty Americans" teaching their children to honoring the gift of American Citizenship...

and what they did to show everyone their level of loyalty to the u.S...

Plus showing off their keen awareness of history...

my all time favorite, the goal of all good democrats America destroying communists.

but of course (snicker, snicker) you can't vote if your not a citizen, right?! (snort)

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid introduced an updated immigration bill Monday, launching one more attempt...

One more? Right.

I believe that, oh sure.

That @#$%^& Kennedy has been at this for how long?

And how many RINO's got smoked out on this anti-American, nation destroying attempt?

The only way I will know they will not try this crap again is when I see their funeral on TV. With any luck they will get their butts kicked so hard this time that the younger ones coming into the system will know to NEVER do anything that stupid EVER again.

This is unacceptable, as they pay for border security by the fees paid by illegals for their amnesty. In other words, we give 12 million people LEGAL status, and take their thousand bucks each and pretend to enforce the border for a while.

BTW, that’s 12 billion, not 4.4 billion, so figure that they don’t believe people are all going to come forward.

We have to drive home the point that the extra money doesn’t prove they are enforcing the border, it just proves that they originally had no intention of funding any of the security measures, which by any stretch of the imagination will cost a lot more than 4.4 billion to implement.
