Supposedly it is a different, Al Qaeda affiliated, group.
All part of Al Jihad Inc. though.
Here is wikipedia’s writeup on them:

THey are one of the groups Seymore Hersh has claimed has been receiving U.S. support in order to oppose Hezbollah....
Cheers.

“Fath AL Islam” is associated with Al Qaeda but Hamas is not. However a terrorist is a terrorist, they must be all annihilated.

Are these folks Hamas or Fatah or a wholly different group? They're all good guys according to the expert Jimmy Carter.
To: edcoil
One could argue that all terrorist groups are associated...
But we have to draw lines somewhere.
“Fat(a)h al Islam” is historically a splinter from the Palestinian Fatah (which is rather “secular”/Arab socialist), but they now are part of the Al-Qaeda jihadist network.
Hamas is Sunni extremist aswell, but they are now being supported by Iran.

Unfortunately you are right, however Iran main terrorist group in Lebanon is Hizballah. Fath Al Islam were sent to Lebanon by the Syrian terrorist regime.

he Syrian terrorist regime left a lot of terrorist groups in Lebanon before they left so they can keep destabilizing the country, of course the biggest among them is Hizballah terrorist group who is also funded and supported by the terrorist regime in Tehran.
Also I expect the fight between Hamas and the PLO to spread in the Palestinian Lebanese camps in Lebanon, it is only a matter of time.
