ACLU wants Jesus out of Slidell court

Jesus has no place in Slidell City Court, says the Louisiana ACLU, which has asked court officials to remove his portrait from the lobby within a week or face the possibility that the organization will file a lawsuit to force the issue.

Several people have complained to the ACLU about the picture, and one has filed a written complaint, prompting the organization to intervene, said Joe Cook, the Louisiana chapter's executive director. The ACLU also wants the court to remove lettering beneath the portrait that says, "To know peace, obey these laws."

The organization sent a letter Wednesday to court officials saying the display violates the First Amendment and therefore must come down. Specifically, it violates the Establishment Clause, which holds that church and state must remain separate, the ACLU says. The organization says the portrait's presence in the court building serves to advance religion.

Cook said it would be impossible for the court to oblige every religious group with a similar display in the court's lobby, as there are more than 1,500 such groups in the United States. Therefore, the display has to go, he said

I bet the ACLU would be happy to replace it with a foot-washing station for the islamists. ACLU = All Communists Love Us.

remove his portrait

Gee whiz! After He took time out of his busy schedule to sit down for the portrait painter, it seems a bit ungrateful.

How do they know it’s really Jesus? Make the ACLU prove “beyond a shadow of a doubt” that it is fact a picture of Jesus?

‘I bet the ACLU would be happy to replace it with a foot-washing station for the islamists.’

Exactly. Wish there was someone or some organization with enough money to take on the ACLU. But, even money probably won’t change the situatiion......problem is liberal judges who let the ACLU get away with their liberal antics.

I get your sarcasm--and share it.

I say, omit the portrait, and just have the words on the wall. This way, ACLU wouldn't have a clue where they came from, and they are certainly words to live by.

Great minds think alike. Although, since it is a civil matter, they would only have to present a preponderance of evidence. You could probably sell tickets to see that.

As Mike Savage has said, one of our biggest priorities is to bankrupt the ACLU under RICO statutes and jail their leadership.

...How do they know it’s really Jesus?...

And if they do prove that it is Jesus, how could that be a problem? After all to them he is just some old dude, not the incarnate Son of God. To be consistent to their worldview he can be no more offensive than a portrait of Patrick Henry, James Madison or Albert Einstein - all of them were real historical figures too!

But then maybe they don't really believe that Jesus wasn't the incarnate Son of God and they just refuse to glorify him and be thankful to him. Hmmm - maybe they are suppressing the truth in unrighteous - that could lead to their foolish hearts being darkened!

Hmmm - makes one wonder why they doth protest too much!

I was offended by a picture in my county court and made them remove it.

It was a landscape picture with a pond. Since my best friend in high school died in a pond, I just couldn’t stand to see a pond at the courthouse.

Granted I am only one person of thousands who go in and out of the courthouse each day, and granted the point of the picture was to refresh and encourage people in trying circumstances still, I was very shaken by the whole ‘pond exposure’ issue.

So, I made them take it down. I, I mean I, me, I, feel much better now. The ruling was that I have a right to not be exposed to anything that upsets me. Thanks your Honor. (nut, can't believe he bought it)

(besides, the artist's use of blues and magenta was a crime)

Jesus is about the truth, the legal system isn’t. If I’m Jesus, I’d leave.

Disgusting Bastards. They cater to the muzzies and force us to look at their footwashers (special designed) and have the balls to complain about a picture of Jesus

I agree with you. At the very least (to them), he is an historical figure. Rev. Martin Luther King was a Reverend and an historical figure but we don't go tearing his portrait and words down.

I remember seeing that picture when I had to go with a friend for a new permit.

Yeah, let’s not have anything religious anywhere, might ‘offend’ someone.

When do I get to be offended that my religion is almost now outlawed?
