Mahmoud Zahar -- a founder of Hamas, and one of its most militant hardliners -- has called for an Islamic state in the Gaza Strip. After the Hamas takeover of the territory last week, he's also threatened Fatah with more violence in the West Bank.
SPIEGEL ONLINE: After heavy fighting, Hamas won control over the Gaza Strip last Saturday. But it's not clear what your party now intends to do. The assumption in the Western world is that Hamas wants to establish an Islamic state in Gaza. Is this true?
Zahar: Of course. We want to do that, but with full support of the people. At the moment we can't establish an Islamic state because we Palestinians have no state. As long as we don't have a state, we will try to form an Islamic society.
SPIEGEL ONLINE: How would a Hamas-led Islamic state look?
Zahar: There would be no difference from how it looks today, because our customs and traditions in Gaza are already Islamic. Marriage, divorce, daily business -- everything is Islamic. As soon as we have a state, then everyone will have their freedom. Christians will remain Christians, parties could be secular or even Communist.
SPIEGEL ONLINE: If an Islamic state is the ideal, why are there not more of them?
Zahar: If there were free and fair elections throughout the Arab world, Islamic forms of government would win everywhere. Islam is against the corruption, weakening, and materialism which have destroyed societies in Europe and America. Families are broken (in the West); there are AIDS and drugs. We don't have such things here.

I did not know that W. had appointed a woman as ambassador to Pakistan (and it wasn’t Harriet Myers). What a bloody genius! Of course his father had a woman ambassador to Iraq, at the time of their invasion of Kuwait.
I would think it would, at least, be considered an insult to the powers that be, in those countries. How anyone could consider such an act to be “diplomatic”, is beyond me. Sometimes mere stupidity does not quite answer the question.
That is the assumption by the idiotic liberals who run the Western World. Hamas and their ilk want to establish an Islamic world, with the establishment of Islamic states in Gaza, West Back, Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan, simply being steps along the path to that ultimate goal.
Sure, we have honor killings and our women walk around looking as dehumanized zombies, but that is a small price to pay for the backwards squalor that Islam has brought to our land.
You are so correct and even more insulting to those of so sensitive Muslims, those ambassadors were probably Christians. What idiots our Presidents were to appoint dirty stinking infidels as ambassadors to those wonderful Muslim countries.

Government models other than Anglo Saxon Judeo Christian Rule of Law based ones don’t seem to have a good track record of setting people free and respecting the rights of individuals.
( I rule out the French Revolution because it was followed by a rain of terror, beheadings, rule by early socialists who called themselves a republic but organized like a totalitarian state, and then a dictatorship).
The HAMAS children’s magazine (No. 66), tells the children about the city called Asbilia (Seville) and calls on them to free it, together with the whole country, from the infidels and to reinstate Muslim rule.
This is how the magazine has the city Asbilia (Seville) telling its story to Hamas’ children: “Salaam Aleykum my dear beloved. I would like to introduce myself: I am the city Asbilia, the bride of the country Andalus (Spain). In the past I was the Capital of the Kingdom of Asbilia… the Arab Muslims, led by the hero-commander Musa bin Nusair, conquered me in 713, after a siege, which lasted one month.
“In the year 97 of the Muslim calendar, the ruler of Andalus, Ayoub bin Habib al-Lahimi moved the Capital to my sister city, Cordoba… in the year 646 of the Muslim calendar, Ferdinand III besieged me and conquered me after a siege which lasted one year and five months, and that was due to the strength of my fortifications and my walls. This is when the Golden Age of the Muslims ended, and Asbilia (Seville) was lost by the Muslims.”
And the story goes on: “However, Muslim cultural expression and symbols still remain witness to the superior Muslim culture on my soil…I yearn that you, my beloved, will call me to return, together with the rest of the lost cities of the lost orchard [Andalus] to the hands of the Muslims so that joy and happiness will fill my land, and you will visit me because I am the bride of the country of Andalus.”
