McCarthy was only scratching the surface. I’m beginning to wonder if we have more bad guys (trojan horses) on our side of the aisle working to sabotage not only Conservatism, the party, and the country. They’re more dangerous than any single open Democrat.

The question begs, what did they give him ? (Or in a more sinister vein, what were they holding over him ?). In a way, it’s a good thing he didn’t end up as Governor, because if he was capable of doing that as a CANDIDATE, what Scumquistian schtick would he have done here in Nashville ? Whatever else, Ed Bryant and the good people of this state didn’t deserve to get screwed like that.

Ed Bryant was cheated out of the primary against Lamar too, in 2002...

I wonder if he would run again?

Yup, he surely was. I didn’t appreciate the White House involving itself in our Senate primary, or them dragging a past-his-prime Lamar ! (well, I’m being kind, I don’t think he ever had a prime) into the race, well after he said he wanted to be in permanent political retirement.

The last time this state elected a freshman Senator Lamar’s age (over 62), he died before his term was up (Democrat Lawrence Tyson in 1929). I’m personally hoping that he wakes up and realizes that’s he going to be 70 before long, and ought to be spending his retirement years with his family, and not in the stressful atmosphere of DC. He had his opportunity to go to DC in 1984 when he was actually needed to stop Al Gore, and he gave this state the finger.

As for Ed Bryant, he’s no spring chicken, either, and I’ve heard no mention of him wanting a rematch or to end up a perennial primary candidate. I’d love for him to run again and take his rightful place in the Senate, but at the moment, it just doesn’t look like it’s in the cards. :-(

Ed Bryant’s bumbling campaign is what lost him the nomination, plus Van Hillery not getting out of way.

Here's his lat statement:

ALEXANDER STATEMENT ON UPCOMING CLOTURE VOTE ON IMMIGRATION BILL

“I will vote against cloture to end debate on the current immigration bill when it comes before us next week. Other than the war on terror, there is nothing more important than fixing our broken immigration system, and we must keep working on it for as long as it takes to get it right, but right must include a process that earns the confidence of the American people, and this bill does not do that.

This problem has been years in the making and will take time to fix. We must secure the border first once and for all, verified by credible sources, without amnesty – you are here legally or you are not here. We also must make it easier for highly skilled workers to come to America to create jobs and expect and assist those here legally to become Americans by speaking our language and appreciating our history and culture.

I will oppose any bill that does not include these essential elements.”

It wasn’t a “bumbling” campaign. He had no money to buy the election as the wealthy establishment does. Many people thought Corker was a Conservative based on his bull$hit ads.

This is good. I don’t know what the GOP is thinking if it thinks it can move forward and pass this horrible bill and think we will forget.

Is there any point in my emailing my Senators, McCain and Kyl?

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907. "In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.

But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American.

There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all.

We have room for but one flag, the American flag.

We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Bryant could have had plenty of free talk radio time in West Tenn. and chose not to.

Well, Corker’s primary victory last year was unfortunate. Still, he did right by the country this time.

The TN conservative grass roots desreves credit more than Corker did. It’s because of them that he got the message.

He needed $$ for tv ads. Talk radio wasn’t enough, especially in his own base. It was sickening seeing wall-to-wall RINO Corker ads.
