Pro-Life Activists Gear Up for Fall Campaign

A Roman Catholic cable television network is airing a program on Monday intended to "set Christians across America on fire to peacefully work to end abortion."

The 30-minute program, called Being Human, focuses on ordinary people who are fighting abortion in their communities through prayer and activism, the Eternal Word Television Network said. EWTN is a global Catholic network that airs family and religious programming from a Catholic point of view in English and Spanish.

The show, presented by the Coalition for Life, premieres on Monday at 6:30 p.m. EDT. It will air in 128 million homes in 140 countries around the world, EWTN said.

The documentary features three volunteers: a businessman, a mother, and a college student "who are working to give a voice to the unborn." EWTN describes the program as a "call to action" for a national "40 Days for Life" campaign that will take place across the country this fall.

According to the Coalition for Life, pro-life activists are gearing up to "bring Christ's love to the sidewalks of abortion clinics" in a 40-day campaign of prayer and fasting.

"National leaders, media outlets, and grassroots organizations are strategically organizing for this massive effort," which will be "one of the most powerful pro-life efforts in American history," the coalition said on its website.

"The 40 Days for Life [campaign] gives hope to communities who feel helpless on this issue and inspires them to rely on Christ to impact our culture, save lives, and change hearts in their community."

EWTN said the first program airing on June 25 "has the potential to transform the pro-life movement." Previews are available on the Coalition for Life website.

"This inspiring program takes an honest approach that will touch hearts, change minds, and encourage the viewer to faithfully work to end the injustice of abortion," Coalition for Life said.

The Coalition for Life, a nonprofit group comprised of churches and individuals, was formed in 1998 when Planned Parenthood announced plans to build the first abortion clinic in the Brazos Valley of Texas.

In the fall of 2004, the Brazos Valley Coalition for Life launched its first 40 Days for Life campaign -- a round-the-clock, 40-day vigil outside the local Planned Parenthood clinic. The group said its effort led to a 28 percent drop in local abortion numbers that year and rejuvenated the pro-life community.

Thanks for the ping. :) We don’t have cable so I didn’t get to see. However, a friend of mine on a pro-life forum got to see it. He dedicates a lot of time to pro-life and works on the sidewalk outside the abortion clinic. He said the show was really good.
