MEMPHIS, Tennessee — A Tennessee mother fed up with her daughter's misbehavior took an unusual tack in for latest punishment, making her stand on a busy street corner with an attention-getting sign.
Tashara Wilkins, 13, held a sign Sunday reading, "I don't obey my parents, I'm a liar. I steal from my mom. I have a bad attitude."
"All other resources haven't worked, so I'm making her be publicly humiliated today," mother Cherie Wilkins told WMC-TV in Memphis. "I hope this works for her. I love my child. ... I could be beating her to death, but I'm not."

After last nights little episode with a couple of my kids, I just may do the same thing.
Sometimes, when nothing else helps you have to take drastic measures
How long before Child Protective Services arrests the Mom?
All is not bad. You can’t make a defiant teenager do this , so mom is still “the boss”
If her daughter were an inmate at Abu Ghraib and the Mom an MP, the NY Slimes, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch would be livid.
Or tries to
That kid in Malaysia who keyed the cars and got caned,...I’ll bet he’ll never do that again.
Life is physical, a little physical pain is a good permanent imprint and reminder on the brain.
Maybe changing her name from “Tashara” to something simple like Jane or Mary would help the poor kid out.
Since this happened in Memphis, my guess is that the mother and daughter have come full circle.
“That kid in Malaysia who keyed the cars and got caned,...Ill bet hell never do that again.”
He didn’t do that again — at least in Malaysia.
Once he got back to the US he was back to vandalizing property again.
yet.
I think if someone were to lay "political correctness" aside and look at the facts there would be a distinct correlation between the removal of corporal punishment in schools and the rise in student "issues"......
Now that is the mind image a liberal holds when they speak out negatively about what the mom is doing today; a conservative expects the girl to react in horror to her punishment and be scared-straight.
I was thinking the same thing, If the kid was totally bad she would tear up the sign and tell Mom to stick it where the sun dont shine.
At 13, I could have used a sign. Hell, more like a sammich board with daily specials.
Great reply
and you think that would help?
It was Michael Peter Fay in Singapore. And he got himself into trouble when he returned to the states... huffing butane, drinking, marijuana, reckless driving, etc.
