Iowa Dem Poll: Edwards leads; Richardson overtakes Obama for 3rd
Political Wire ^

Posted on 06/26/2007 7:14:39 AM PDT by John Cena

A new Iowa poll done for Gov. Bill Richardson of "likeliest caucus goers" shows John Edwards leading with 31%, followed by Sen. Hillary Clinton at 23%, Richardson at 18% and Sen. Barack Obama at 16%.

Likeliest caucus-goers are defined as voters who attended the 2004 caucuses, voted in the 2006 primary, and say they are definite to attend next year's caucus.

Richardson's campaign notes he "is the only Democrat to make any significant gains over the past three months."

If there is a shread of truth to this poll, it means Obama has fallen a long way down. Just before the first Democrat debate back in April he was threatning to overtake Hillary nationally as the frontrunner, now he's fallen behind the crappy Bill Richardson.

I read somewhere (don’t remember where) that Hillary had said it would cost her $15 million to win the Iowa caucuses.

It was a comment she made in response to whether she was going to Iowa at all.

Maybe she’ll spend $10-15 million in all the state caucuses/primaries and run out of money before the real contest starts for the November election.

I mean, eventually even her most ardent supporters will dread seeing her come around again with her hand out.

People liked the “idea” of Obama. Now that the rubber has hit the road and folks are realizing how completely unqualified he is for POTUS they are looking elsewhere.

I think you are right ... Hillary can’t pick Obama... his speaking ability makes her look sick! Richardson would be her best choice of those currently running... but I sure would like to see that idiot Dodd on a national ticket...

Even Iowa Dems see Obama as little more than an empty suit creation of the MSM.

The poll was done for Richardson. Could it be slanted in any way? Richardson is such a lump and so poor at presenting himself and responding to questions. Is Obama killing himself campaign-wise? How is Richardson making progress? He’ll never beat Hillary.

Obama would bring nothing to the Hillary ticket.

She already has much of the Black vote.
She already has much of the Illinois vote. [favorite daughter]
She already has much of the lib vote. [Libs will go for the Dems candidate, whomever it is.]

Her VP will someone from a swing state or different demographic. Former VA governor Warner or Richardson or Bayh would be probable prospects.

Yes her heinousness has the black vote unless Obama goes Independent and takes them with him. I am sure he has thought of that.

Consider the last two Democratic nominees.
