Putin Stay Home

Diplomacy: President Bush invited Russia's leader to Kennebunkport this week, but he's hardly our good amigo. His latest provocations should be enough for Bush to cancel the trip and re-evaluate this friendship.

On July 1, President Bush will honor Russian President Vladimir Putin with access few other world leaders experience. He's heading to the Bush family compound in Kennebunkport to dine on lobster and view the beautiful Maine scenery, as only a few distinguished world leaders, like Poland's Lech Walesa and Jordan's King Hussein, have done.

Sure there are differences, the media kits say, but the rationale is that the two leaders, away from their aides and public pressure, can finally get together like old friends and hash out differences.

But in Putin's case, there's some doubt about that going to plan.

Looking into Putin's eyes isn't going to make him trustworthy.

I gave Bush some slack early in his presidency tying to be buddies with Putin, but not now. Forget the buddy buddy stuff, Putin has shown himself our enemy. Texas good ole boy stuff is out.

Putin has been helping Iran with its nuclear program; he’s been selling advanced arms such as air defense to Syria and Iran; and he’s been selling weapons to Chavez in Venezuela. He should not be treated as a friend of western civilization. His KGB roots are all too clear now.

I have maintained for years that Putin has, is and forever will be brainwashed by the KGB. He may at one time have mildly entertained thoughts of true partnership but the encroaching EU and Nato are direct threats to his sovereignty (at least how I think he views it) and is taking steps to halt the colonialism of the EU in it’s tracks. The wisest and safe way would be to embrace democracy in steps, lure in investment and become an economic power house. Of course, we see what paranoid pathway he has choses.

I also enjoy reading prophecy. Russia is part of the beast of Revelations. Also other prophets such as Nostradamus tell of a cooling period between the eagle and bear’s strategic relationship during this time frame. Russia will launch it’s nuclear arsenal our way at some point but much will begin to accelerate in other regions or areas first. According to Revelations, the beast goes off into destruction. When the time comes, the bad guys lose but unfortunately 1/3 of mankind goes with it.

Putin will meet with his good comrade Hugo Chavez right before meeting with Bush, in another slap in the face to America. Go to hell, Putin.

For some reason this idiot is trying to reignite the Cold War.

As if America doesn’t have enough on her palte, a new Cold War would just be freaking peachy.

But then again, even old Boris traded with Iran and Iraq.

Usually I don’t say things like this but this scenario lends credibility to the idea that ideology plays less a factor in how nations interact than its underlying interests.

E.g., even if china loses its current Communist ruling class, it may still be a belligerent nation, actively in conflict with its neighbors and America.

Let’s hope this isn’t true and that we can avoid a reignition of hostilities like a plague.

Because it is one.
