Yeah they could be stopped at a gas station or something tweaking the fenders. LOL I'm sure there's JUST ONE MORE inspection tomorrow. :(
You know I just really like all these colors.

Hey, we have sunshine!
There is however, quite a bit coming down the creeks and rivers. :)
To: WestCoastGal
Wow. one / eigth of an inch. And they passed pre-qual inspection ?
That sounds pretty silly. I wonder if they were thinking it was another downforce cheat?

It is clear now. If it's not, NASCAR is prepared to expand the suspension to car chiefs and engineers -- whatever it takes to get the message across. "It could grow into multiple suspensions," Darby said as he sat outside the hauler otherwise known as the NASCAR principal's office. Teams have understood for years that messing with the gray area in engines will not be tolerated. Now they're discovering that the body is off limits as well.

No wonder they wanted Jr.
Two of Ginn’s cars sporting basic black at track, with no sponsorship
By JIM UTTER - The Charlotte Observer
LOUDON, N.H. - Two of the three Ginn Racing entries in the Nextel Cup Series arrived at New Hampshire this weekend without sponsorship.
That alone isnt usual for the team, which does not have a full schedule of sponsorship lined up for the Nos. 13 and 14 Chevrolets and drivers Joe Nemechek and Sterling Marlin. However, unlike other weekends, the team elected to leave both cars totally black in color.
In several previous races, Ginn Resorts a company owned by team owner Bobby Ginn has been used on the cars.
Team public relations representatives confirmed both teams were without sponsorship this weekend.

“To paraphrase the late Johnnie Cochran, if the templates fit, you must acquit.”
I agree. However, Mikey said on INC that the teams get actual CAD drawings. The implication is that the template is a rough gauge but the CAD specs are the final word.

Wolf, you said it better than I, thanks. IMHO, race fans generally like all the good drivers including Jeff and JR. What is hard to take is the stridency of the JR fanatics and people that hate HMS. I cannot imagine how a race fan could not appreciate the skills and team work of the 48 and 24 teams and still see the admirable qualities of JR.

I just hope this race is better than last week. Nascar should not set fuel capacities at the margins. If they want cars to make it in two stops, or three stops, then they should do it for all cars. These milage races are boring.

Actually, NASCAR allows a 1/4 inch variance. So the car was a total of 3/8 inch too low.

CAD is little help in the real world. It's a highly overrated program that has made designers out of people that have never been in the field. Far too many times it doesn't address clearances, tolerances, and/or elevations.
And we only have to deal with it building things that DON'T move, much less on a vehicle that is expected to go 190.
