Wolf, you said it better than I, thanks. IMHO, race fans generally like all the good drivers including Jeff and JR. What is hard to take is the stridency of the JR fanatics and people that hate HMS. I cannot imagine how a race fan could not appreciate the skills and team work of the 48 and 24 teams and still see the admirable qualities of JR.

I just hope this race is better than last week. Nascar should not set fuel capacities at the margins. If they want cars to make it in two stops, or three stops, then they should do it for all cars. These milage races are boring.

As the resident "HMS hater" please allow me to be clear and then I will drop it. I hate Rick Hendrick because he is a Clintonista who gave $500,000 to Clinton's Library Foundation to buy a presidential pardon, which he received. The last I looked, Free Republic was a conservative political website, and I take my conservative politics a lot more seriously than my enjoyment of NASCAR.

Having said that, I have profound respect for HMS in general, they are an incredible outfit. I think there is no doubt that Flash is the best driver of our times, and the case could be made the greatest of all time. I think the #48 team is the epitome of what all NASCAR teams seek to be. I think the #5 tandem of Shrub and Gustafson were on the cusp of greatness together.

However, forever sitting at the top is Rick Hendrick, and always will be. So while I have profound respect and admiration for what HMS has accomplished, and to this day is still accomplishing, as a political conservative I feel I must cheer against them. The money they make goes into Rick Hendrick's pocket. And from his to the likes of Bill and Hillary Clinton.

I know there are without a doubt political conservatives here who find no personal conflict within themselves to cheer HMS on to wins!

I respect that! To each their own! But I personally cannot do that.

I just want to say one more time *sigh* that the racing community is much like the country we find ourselves in today. There are good people, there are bad people, there are drunks [I personally hate them] and there are whackos, maniacs and just plain dumbasses. You can find them at the track in every driver shirt there is. Not ALL of them are Jr fans. If you visit some other driver forums you can see the hatred for ALL Hendrick teams and that's because they are SUCCESSFUL! Period.

Sr may have done or said this or that, but that was then this is now. Jr is friends with all the Hendrick drivers and most of his fans will abide by that. There are those who rant and rave that he deserted DEI blah blah blah, but he did what was best FOR HIM. He felt he could not succeed there with Teresa at the helm, adding in many pent up bad feelings for both him and Kelley from childhood to present.

Those fans who bolt and rave like maniacs are NOT Dale Jr fans, once again they are the cut and run type when something doesn't go their way. /ok I'm done. I'm sure everyone is glad. :)
