I very much admire President Bush. His work reflect a far greater intelligence than that shown by his detractors.

That's because his masters are aliens from some galaxy far, far away. They tell him what to do. That's probably why you are confused.

As for Elian Gonzalez...

There is a HUGE difference between illegal aliens from around the world who are committing criminal acts on a daily basis, and a political refugee from Cuba.

If you are confusing these two issues (Political Refugees & straightforward Illegal Immigration) then that just proves that you have no clue what those of us who are criticizing Bush are speaking about...

He doesn't hat us Eliza.

Worse, he thinks we're stupid.

Make that STUPID.

“And it seems to you more evil than charlie manson.”

What’s your fetish with Charlie Manson? His enchanting eyes?

I happen to think that when millions of illegal alien criminals are STEALING American kids’ educations and healtcare, it’s extremely evil. It’s easy for a liberal to make the problem seem innocous by reducing the example to one pathetic toilet-cleaning person. Multiply that by 12,000 illegals and we all suffer, often in life-threatening ways.

Who cares if the middle class takes it in the shorts? The elite get their imported “slave class”, and isn’t that all that matters?

It seems that all that matters to you is class envy, just like a classic Marxist.

OK, now I know you are on crack.

Well, I now know you aren't interested in a serious discussion.

Thanks for the cut-and-paste and Michelle Malkin's personal opinion - which is just that: her personal opinion.

As far as the stats I notice two things:

(1) The Clinton administration had a success rate with fining violators of 9.0% while the Bush administration has had a rate of 17.4% - or almost double the Clinton rate.

(2) Employers' attorneys have gotten much wilier at evading legal liability for false IDs than they were during the Clinton administration, making it much harder to prosecute.

Wow... that’s quite interesting, really.

See, where I lived and worked among Illegal Immigrants (mostly Mexican - in west Denver), nary a soul celebrated the 4th of July, nor did they display a U.S. flag. On the contrary our neighborhood and part of the city was quite literally shut down for almost a week around Cinco de Mayo, and there were too many Mexican flags to count!

I had a discussion a few years back with one young man (in his late teens) during Cinco de Mayo, and when I asked them why, if they are here in the U.S., they are celebrating Mexican independence day, and they don’t celebrate the 4th of July he literally just stared at me, and couldn’t explain it. My co-worker (a LEGAL Mexican immigrant in her 50s) really let him have it. She said a bunch of stuff (Mostly in Spanish), and the jist of it was, you are HERE, not THERE, you should be thanking those who died for OUR independence in THIS country for the opportunities you have, instead of owing your allegiance to a country you no longer even live in...

In my experience, I have seen much more of the behavior displayed in Denver around the country, than what you are describing. Perhaps, it is a difference in the people who come to sanctuary cities vs. those who live elsewhere???

Actually the people who are stealing education are the teacher unions and entrenched govt. school beauacracy and the people stealing health care are the trial lawyers, but I guess to you those people are of the correct skin hue, while evil toilet cleaner Jose, is the scapegoat of your anger.

On what basis would the lawyer file a residency petition?

There are many theoretically possible bases - all of which would be immediately rejected when they were actually brought before the proper authorities, except that now the petition is in furtherance of a military recruitment.

Illegals are illegals because they have no basis to file for residency. (Not because they didn't think to see a lawyer.)

An illegal will not pay a lawyer to file if he knows ahead of time that he has no chance. However, the military is now offering him that chance and the paperwork does have a value it did not previously have.

Dallas, and my experience is the same as yours. They’ll have picnics and stuff for the 4th, but only because they picnic all the time anyway. They don’t care about the meaning behind the day, nor do they care about Pearl Harbor or the Alamo (ha).

Most of us here in the real world don’t have servants. No offense, but you’re being every bit as paternalistic as el presidente.

I don’t know why the difference. Maybe it is because we are in a generally conservative area. The people with whom I am familiar do retain some of their entertainment and social customs, such as music and frequent fiestas, which is fine with me since I’d probably rather listen to Mexican folk music than gangstra rap. There is also very little gang activity where we are compared to most areas. I report, you decide.

GW, Sorry.

You would be entitled to question GW’s wisdom and political acumen on the issue of immigraion. But to suggest that he condones an “invasion” of this country, or that he does not care about its security is absurd.

Is this one of those "false dichotomies" you mentioned?

Simply the truism that politicians tend to focus on issues that have reached a crisis point: in 2001 the problem uppermost on people's minds was terrorism, not illegal immigration.

Uh, I don't have servants either, and as for being "paternalistic", it is you who is calling for daddy govt. to punish those evil business owners who provide food and shelter and other beneficial goods and services.

Look in the mirror karl marx.

It’s nice that you assume I voted Democrat in the last election, instead of facing the facts that the Democrats were able to rally more around their candidates more than the Republicans were... Blaming the loss on the ‘border bots’ is simply ridiculous.

You and I both know that the Congressional loss in 2006 had more to do with the media and people’s perception on the war in Iraq than immigration and ‘border bots’. If Bush had come out and shown that we DID find WMD, and countered more of the Democrat rhetoric in regards to the reasons we went to war (like the connection between Sadaam and Al Qaeda as proven by documents JVeritas translated), we could have KEPT the majority. I often wondered why if Bush was so strong on the WOT why he let the Dems keep repeating the same crap for the last 7 years?!?! Perhaps it was all a set-up? Bush did seem awful smug the day after the election last year, saying all sorts of stuff like “Well, the people have spoken...”. It really reeks of immaturity.

But, if you want to pretend that the last election had to do with immigration reform, then I guess you can do that...

As far as Bush ‘teaching me a lesson’??? That’s exactly what I was talking about when I referred to his possibly having a temper tantrum. If teaching “me” a lesson includes sacrificing our country to prove some point, then it just proves that he is being childlike.

It is possible to compromise without completely selling out and turning your back on what’s good for our country (as the immigration bill does).

I’m getting quite sick of all the name-calling frankly. Your comments to me sound exactly like the tripe that is being shouted at me from my representatives that supposedly stand for conservative principles. What is with you all???

You can go ahead and keep accusing me all you want of being a Democrat, and wanting a Democrat President, but I’m not buying it. There is no shame in demanding honor among our representatives, and demanding that they do not sell out their principles. Perhaps if people like YOU did so instead of excusing their actions we wouldn’t be in this situation in the first place...
