The U.S. military announced Wednesday that coalition forces killed a senior al-Qaida leader and his courier, both Turks, in an operation in northern Iraq.

Mehmet Yilmaz, also known as Khalid al-Turki, operated a cell that facilitated the movement of foreign fighters into Iraq for al-Qaida operations, U.S. Central Command said in a statement.

The courier was identified as Mehmet Resit Isik, also known as Khalil al-Turki, a close associate of Yilmaz and other senior leaders within al-Qaida.

The two men were killed in an operation June 23 south of Hawija, which is 150 miles north of Baghdad. Yilmaz was identified through a photo comparison and a forged Iraqi personal ID card, the statement said.

You’d think at least one of them would defend the efforts. Instead, they’re following the MSM and DNC.

I know. It is either they really get very little balanced views as we have been assembling here, and or they are worried for re-elections. Or perhaps they are simply getting to many negative inputs from their constituants, who for the most part are guided by the M/LSM and are caving in.
It is scary at this point. Of course any prolonged war tends to go this course.
One thing that does appear common on both sides of the political spectrum is the argument that in effect....the military of the US and Coalition forces have done their part, and that the Iraqi government has done little in effect. If some truely are pissed on this point, then I can't blame them for voicing concerns. Obviously many of us have similiar reservations as how effective this Maliki lead government is performing. A lot of graft, and one sidedness, as well the questionable strengths within the military ranks.
Prior to this surge we have been seen as playing policeman. Hopefully that will change as what we can see happening continues to show very positive results.
